i m looking forward to this for the sole reason of being able to dump Fallout 3 on the HDD and run it from there instead of my noisy old drive. when is it officially being released anyway? I hear november but i don't know the exact date.

Fallout 3 officially hit retail today in North America. I'm not sure about PAL-land.

As mentioned earlier, no disc-dumping, no fallout 3 for me even if it is already released. I can't stand having to listen to the noise of my XBOX during such a long and engaging game, it would deduct from the whole experience.

That said, I have Banjo, GoW2, Fallout 3, Little Big Planet and a good few more in Santa's wish-list for this year and I ll be happy if I can score anything besides GoW2 (I owe a friend a b-day gift and he asked me to buy - and of course since he does not own an X360 be the owner of- GoW2 as his gift, it's win-win for both;) )

The NXE recovery discs wont be out for devs until November 10th-18th, if MS keeps to their schedule.

The early preview was, i think, only publicity. Or a scam, whatever you like.

First of all, TWO HOURS after the begining of the "so called" offer, the connect server did not recognise the code anymore (i use connect a lot, if the program is full, they tell you most of the time. There was an error message.)

Moreover, i am the only one who fin surprising that lots and lots of PRESS MEMBERS got in?

    Not true.

...The 'early' NXE offer is legit and works a treat.

...You just had a answer a few questions and hope you was one of the 'lucky' 20,000.

Congratulations on your acceptance into the Xbox 360 Fall Flash Preview Program. As a member of this program you will be receiving the New Xbox Experience (NXE) System Update.

The update will be made available to you on or before November 1st. In order to receive the update, log in to Xbox LIVE with the Preview Program registered console.

In participation with this program, you should not move your storage device (hard drive, or memory unit if you do not have a hard drive) to any other console as it will also update that console. If an unregistered console is updated with the NXE update, that console will not be able to connect to Xbox LIVE until the NXE has been officially released on November 19th.

Please remember that your participation in the Public Preview Program is subject to the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use.

We thank you for your participation and hope that you enjoy the New Xbox Experience.

    See you online,

    The Xbox 360 team

I'd assume the same way everyone else who doesn't have a modded/tampered Xbox would - burn onto disc and let the Xbox do the rest.

No need. You can use a USB stick. Though some people are claiming that those who have been invited into the dash preview while installing connect to xbox live to download some files. With the leaked release it doesnt do that and it wont connect to xbox live at all untill the 19th.

Also someone has said the update installs without a HD or Memory card. This might be due to the missing content thats downloaded during the installation. Remember that the extra media codecs are not included with the firmware and you will have to download them again. Though you cant untill the 19th.

sorry to be posting yet again, but how does one run the file from a USB memory stick? I boot the console with the USB flash stick inside but nothing happens. also there's no option to do so from the Dash - or is there? :S

Not having done this my self yet. As far as i have seen you need to put
the $SystemUpdate folder in the root of a USB drive. Then plug it in to the xbox and it should just popup asking to upgrade.
