I dont suppose either of you two apparent Amiga fans could tell me whether the Wonder TV set top boxes were ever released or were they lost in the whole Gateway shenanigans ? I havnt been in the Amiga scene for a couple of years now, I pop my head over at amiga.org now and again to see whats going on. I dont even have a decent Amiga anymore since my A1200 broke and I sold off the accelerator board and so on. Theres an A500+ with an A570 somewhere around here lol. What kinda systems are they using in the Amiga community now, there was a lot of noise about G3\4 boards (whether they were released or not I don't remember) when I used to use Amigas.
I remember hearing about those TV boxes, I don't think they ever came to be, as Gateway didn't exactly own Amiga for very long... Sure am curious about that Walker, though, what the hell is that? :smt017 Nowadays, high-end "classic" Amigas (not AmigaDE and whatever new hardware amiga.com has been proposing, that is) run on combo 68060/PowerPC processor boards...or use the PowerPC to emulate 68K code and run older software that way... those classic machines ended up getting pretty damn bitchin' fast in the end I also remember that German companies phase5 and Haage & Partner were involved in developing the Amiga PowerPC and WarpUP solutions (one being hardware, the other software, I think)... it's really been too long since I've known all the details and was up-to-date on this stuff. Heck, I never had the money and stuff to get me an A1200 so I stuck with my souped-up A500/GVP A530 'till I got my first PC in 1999 :Hangman: :smt040 Anyway, do check out www.amiga.com - there's a neat amount of stuff to learn there, too.
Ahhh not too much has changed then on the processor front. The Walker was an Amiga developed by Escom when they owned the Amiga Hardware and Brand. It looked a little like a hoover :- http://amiga.emugaming.com/walker.html
@kanemochi: If you want to know the truth about your Amiga 1300, I can find out if you give me the name of the seller. I`ve been in contact with many people from back in the days like Manfred Trenz (A legend, some of his games include Turrican 1&2 or Rendering Ranger R2), they sure could tell me about the seller. @All Amiga Lovers: I don`t know the situation in other countries, but in Germany you can still buy new Amiga 1200 "Dynamite Desktop" sets with mouse, OS & some progs for just €99 ($120).
I dont think the Wonder TV got released, but who knows. I think it was Petro who made the licensing deal with the company. Anyway. that time in Amiga history is very confusing, maybe not as confusing as it has been now... I think he was making lots of deals in Asia. Other rare Amiga stuff other than the Walker is the prototype clone motherboards like Boxer from Index information and the one from Power computer. They where never released but maybe theres a working proto somewhere ? The Amiga clone Draco is very rare and hard to track down, originally made for video editing. Theres also lots of interesting proto stuff from C= like A3500, and other crazy models that has slightly different cases from the norm like C=65.
One of my friends is a bit of an Amiga collector. He has an A2500 and some different proto cases (all empty though, but interesting)\designs for some Amigas which I thought was cool. Some official dev stuffs etc. Unfortunatelty he takes no interest in recent events really
