I have heard that this one was in development at some time but it was canned.Anyone cares to give some more information?
Some magazines previewed it, last seen summer '97 (it was planned for August '97). Sega apparently bought the rights to publish it from GT interactive. One might wonder what the hell happened..
Having read every last reputable magazine back in the Saturn era, this is the first I've heard of Abe's Odyssey for that platform. Then again, it's more than likely as somebody out there surely MUST have been working on an alternative to the over-hyped (and similarly ill-fated) Heart Of Darkness!
found a scan of the Official Sega Saturn Magazine, has under its news section Abe's Oddessey. Not downloaded it yet so not sure how much detail it go's into but it confirms the date of 1997 (with it being in the march 1997 issue! ) Anyway, get it here: http://www.meanmachinesmag.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=1807 Its a 70Mb file hosted on rapidshare, might be of some interest to others. Oh yea, you want to be looking for the Manx TT cover for the info/file.
So I guess it was planned but nothing came of it? Also notice a few other games that never hit Saturn in that...
Interesting that most of the things suggested/hinted at within that preview didn't make the final cut in any form (Player Character Emotions/Non linear puzzles).
