Would a sunkey fusion work on a gamecube?

Short answer: yes they do pop up from time to time. Although it isn't very often anymore and they can get very pricey depending on a lot of things. For instance last one installed in a GC with a v3 I had seen on ebay completed for over 500. It was in a well played purple GC. Seen lone Wasp chips for 90. Also sealed Wiikey Fusions for 65. So it's hit or miss.
As for Sunkey Fusion I don't know much about that chip myself but it would seem that if you use a Wii drive then yes? Sorry I can't be more help on that.
Being someone who recently went thru piecing together a Wiikey Cube I have to ask. Why do you want a Cube like this? I'm just curious and not trying to knock your attempt.

I have "retro" game days at school but I don't like bringing any of the valuable disk based games. When the science students reach a goal they get a game day. It happens probably three times a year. I bring my dreamcast usb modded console, SD modded saturn, og xbox, snes with sd2snes, mega-everdrive, gamecube, nes(powerpak) , n64(v3 everdrive), wii, and wii u. The 3do has made it a few times. The kids just enjoy playing and I honestly prefer original hardware. The kids just play smash on wii and 8 player smash on wii U). I just prefer an SD/USB modded console any time is a disk based only system. The load time change is ridiculous.

Wow, that is awesome. I completely understand the need now. Thumbs up on all the other keg consoles. With kids around you really don't need all those discs and cartridges flying all over the place.
In regards to the GameCube have you tried the XenoGC/Swiss,AR/SDGecko route in the meantime? If so then I apologize for the redundant recommendations. A single disc use really does cut down on wear. Read speeds aren't superb but with a SanDisk Extreme it's really quite enjoyable.
For me the reasons I scoured ebay like a vulture was initially to make a portable. That never took off and then I think I just became obsessed with the hunt.
Well good luck searching. I hope something pops up for you. If I see anything I will try and pass the info along.

I use a ViperGC running Cobra with the costis sd-load plugin which boots swiss, from there I can just load isos from the sd gecko.
That is the only ODE solution I have set up.
Cheapest option would be Xeno + swiss bootable disc + sd gecko, but you would need a boot disc

I also have WODE lying around which I never got around to trying to get to work on the GC

I am running 2 Wiikey Fusion, 2 XenoGC, and a Qoob Pro in mine. I use the Qoob the most. Not afraid to hurt it I guess. I have entertained the thought of a WODE setup. It seems like another neat option. At this point in the game I think it's best to hold back. The Viper though, with the case, oh man. Those are sexy.

Very nice, love the Japanese colours. I installed two Xenos and have about 10 spares. Going to keep using the Viper for now. The full DVD case comes in handy for testing but I've kept the original GC jewel, don't like the Viper logo.

Very cool consoles. How does the wode work for a gamecube? Do you need the disk drive hooked up or could I just run the slave media?

Also I don't think I answered but I do have a xeno modded gamecube with sd reader. Not sure why but I had a heck of a time getting my xeno to work. First chip from china never would work. Second one did though.

Hey I appreciate the heads up. I'm in Houston with Central Standard Time so it was about 345am when you posted them up. Plus even when I subscribe I never get notifications from here. They don't even end up in my SPAM. Not sure whats up with that.
