Yeah, the china thing didn't happen... so I'm in Saitama! In my defense, there is a Chinese restaurant around the corner...

The sucky thing is I shipped most of my stuff back to America to prepare for the move (traveling light), so I only have 15 systems left with me in Japan TT

Not sure if a Chinese resturant around the corner really counts as moving to china and out of all the prefectures around Tokyo, you chose the dullest one of the lot. :D

Only 15 systems...is there any reason to have more then 8?

Some of them are Gamecubes. Like 4 of them. And then there's 2 Xboxes, too.... so I'm counting doubles.

Is there any chance someone could pick up a spice orange 'cube from one of these places for me? The prices on eBay are stupid.

How much are you looking to spend? The truth of the matter is that the cost of the system isn't what's really expensive; but the shipping. Just the shipping on a GC going EMS runs about 6800 yen.

Where do you live now in Saitama? I use to visit the Kawagoe Hard-off, when I am up at the wifey parents home.

@cynatist, do you think this is expensive?

Well the cheapest I can get an orange one in the UK is £120 without controller. So I'd like to get one for under that!

Shipping for a boxed GC (SAL) might be about 4000yen I guess and Gamecube consoles itselves are worth nothing! They're selling mountains of loose consoles for 100$ over at YAJ. Boxed consoles also go for cheap, often in bundles with games (in shitty condition). The Gamecube must be the cheapest console available in Japan. The prices for loose consoles are much lower than FC and SFC, almost on par with N64, that's how low they are! :p

Gamecube's are dead cheap at places like hard off - spice orange console unit only are usually 350yen but then you pay another 350 for the psu another 500 for the controller etc. A complete boxed unit are usually a couple of thousand yen.

I usually bring back as many spice cubes as i can find.

I would only need the cube anyway as I have a JP power supply. Can I use any power brick with it or would I have to run the JP power supply through a step down converter?

You can use your own region's PSU, no problem. They all put out the same 12volts DC (or whatever).

It is more like this in HOs junk corners:

    - Cube like 315yens
    - PSU like 525yens
    - Controller 1500+ dang!!

I've hardly seen any cube controllers (that actually have no damage) below the 1200yens.
Cubes alone go from 105~525yens usually. And yeah, buying all cubes from like 10 shops together and you could build a house of 'em.

So they charge more for a controller than they do for the console itself?!

Yeah, because of the Wii support. That's also the main reasons for the high price level of GC games.

Why Hard Off, what a great retro selection you have! Is that a Saturn game?

Yes, they had one Saturn game.

At least it was a good one :D (Although I board the Arcade PCB version for a few hundred yen....)

Although a lot of Hard Off shops tend to put most Saturn games in the junk part, I hardly ever see any Saturn games in any hard off in the games part of the shop.
