An N64 sizzle reel was posted over at NeoGAf earlier today and I finally got around to watching it after work. It typical proto /marketing stuff seen at trade events at the time. The thing that caught my eye was the Gameboy Pocket segment. If you notice the GBP being held, it is a GBP that stylized after an original gameboy. I have never seen this before. Has anyone here actually seen one, for sale or otherwise? I hold no false belief that I will actually come across one, let alone at a reasonable price, but I do smell a gbp mod coming on.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkGuhMCCslM&feature=youtu.be
Came out in Japan. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-Limite...iginal-Off-White-Color-Japanese-/111048313195
Does it? While I have no doubts that it could just be a mock model, the other GBP was a silver style unit that was released. It looked pretty normal, afaik. edit****** Well I'll be damned! You just made my night, Borman.
I thought about buying one before I bought a Light People own them over on GAF in the GB/GBC/GBA thread
yeah, the DMG style GBP was a limited Japanese release but not really rare. I have one in my collection - I paid more for my Xtreme Green gameboy pocket and ice blue GBP (japanese clear and american metallic).
You sure you're looking at gray not silver GBP? The Gray GBP with purple buttons was a limited japanese release - the silver GBP was regular.
Pretty uncommon in Japan, but there's quite a few on various Japanese auction sites. That one that sold on eBay was sooooo overpriced.
It may be uncommon but it's not really sought after. You could probably buy one for 500 Yen or less when it pops up at some Book Off. This one is still without bids and only a couple of hours left: http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m113399939
