Spong is hardly 9/10 times inaccurate, and just because they have reported soemthing that others haven't hardly makes it untrue. Spong was the *only* site to revela all the unsavoury details of the Sammy takeover while all other news sites shied away form it, and it was 100% true.

9/10 times their news being 'bollocks' is grossly inaccurate. A lot of people have thrashed spong because they saw as news what spong CLEARLY stated as speculation. A lot of news comes out spong first - such as the news that SegaTon at e3 was bullshit.

So while I am hardly defednign a news site, it is ignorant to say taht they're 'cack' and the majority of their news is bullhsit - look at the recent news page - anythign you see there that is bullshit or has turned out to be?

So yes, while it may indeed prove untrue, resting sure in the notion that this news is bullshit because Spong reports nothign but bull is baseless.

Totally disagree with you and Spong has been involved ina number of big bullshit news articles, even getting warnings for it off some publishers and developers.Want more people who share my point of view, try 90% of the NTSC UK board who are among the most knowledgable and hardcore gaming communities in the world.

It's not just my opinion they are cack, it's the opinion of masses of gamers, so why not have a go at them as well. :smt045

Someone comment on my original post. Isn't that true? I remember they posted at least ONE of the Sega E3 conspiracy theories... none of which were accurate.

About the mythical SEGA handehld? I don't rmemeber too well but I think they were passing it off as speculation.

In any case, of course we all hope it is wrong. I mean, as Nintendomad said - would Yuji Naka really let NiGHTS be remade, let alone taken out if his hands?

Oh, ok. Let’s see... Spong are idiotic, and they post wrong information. They are stupid phonies, and you shouldn't believe them because they are a big bunch of phonies. They suck and they post inaccurate news. Don't believe a word they say. BTW, who's Spong? :-D

The question is, would he have a choice? It's not like he owns the Nights franchise. The ip copyright surely belongs to Sega, who belong to Sammy. Potentially, Sammy could make a Nights hentai series if they felt like it. Whether or not this news from Spong is correct or not, if I understand the relationship between Sega and Sammy right then it really is only a matter of time before some Sammy corporate executive realises that they're sitting on a goldmine of waiting to be reaped. Expect bad things - there's a lot of money to be made out of Sega's history, and no Sammy executive is going to shy away from making it just because the resulting games might piss off a few hardcore fans. Making these games appeal to a wider Western audience is a logical move, from the point of view of Sammy's bank account. As far as I'm concerned, this whole thing was exactly what was expected once Sega were bought out by a pachinko company.

Spong are generally pretty good btw, they do have a tendency to publish speculation, though generally they acknowledge it. It's hardly their fault if they report something, say it's a rumour, and everyone takes it as fact.

You depress me by pointing out the obvious. Clearly as only Sammy executives now sit on SEGA's executive board, all major decisions such as this come down from them. Bastards.

On an even more depressing note, SEGA's last day as the company we have known it, before it's dissolved and made part of the holding company, commences in an hour.

Good luck, SEGA...what's left of you. Sigh...

I don´t know if this is true, but Spong some times got right. In early 2003 they reported that Sega was making a new Sega Rally for the PS2, and, well... on this month Famitsu we coul see the first pictures of the game.

I have found some interesting information of the new Sega plans on this link: http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/~soaworld/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=1;t=1578

Hell... I thing a Shinobi game made by UbiSoft would become 1000 times better than the one Oveworks made for the PS2.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've heard and also ripped off some lame sig I saw on GameFaqs something to the lame effect of 'We have already established SEGA is a haven for creative game developers with no business sense' form some smug idiot who thought he new what he was talking about because he thought he sounded cool.

    Bullshit.

If SEGA has poor business sense, WHY is it the undisputed ruler of the arcade sector - and quite frankly its saviour? Where, frankly, would the arcade market be without SEGA? Worldwide, arcades equal SEGA. That's not success on a massive scale? No business 'sense' involved there?

Any company that can not only stay profitable inin the acrade sector but continue to dominate it, innovate it and rake in billiions in it, year in and year out, hardly has poor business sense. No one company is mighty and successful in every single sector it is in - SEGA and the home market are no exception.

That is total bullshit that Sega had no business sense, why then has Sega such a massive following, just because you are not the dominant force in sales does not mean you are not good at business, after all Sega has been going for more than forty years, and there is not many games businesses can say that.

Sure they have made some errors but haven't they all, Sony with their HDD, Nintendo with the Virtual Boy, SNK with the neo geo pocket monochrome, NEC with the PC FX, Panasonic with the 3do.

Also Sega still have massive shares in their company and still have a big say on what goes on, Sammy cannot do whatever they want with IP's without first consulting the majot shareholders.Sure they will have no problem passing most executive decisions but not with all, rocking the boat too much will lose them money and talent.Don' t forget they are trying to build bridges not destroy any relationship they have with their staff.
