Yeah, i'm pissed now. We whine and moan for fucking online play, and what do we get? Another damned mario sports game, this time a shameless ripoff of DDR! This just makes me lose faith in Nintendo...

It's not a shameless rip-off of DDR. It's made in conjunction with Konami...it is DDR.

Oh great, yet another "insert Mario here" game. It's getting to the point of absurdity now. I like Nintendo and love the GC, but come on. The last things we need are a million games that star Mario. How many Mario Party games have been released on the Gamecube? I still only have Mario Party one on the N64. I would much rather see an updated version of SSB with on-line play, not some stupid dance game with Mario in it.

 

Christ, even Sega eventually stopped sticking Sonic in everything, take the hint, we no wanna play witha the Mario! :smt071

I'm off to watch the Super Mario film (with Bob Hoskins) just to make me hate Mario even more!

Sonic had it's stupid moments too like Sonic CD, Sonic Drift, Sonic Arcade, Sonic Jam, Sonic Fighters, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Collection and Shuffle they all sucked

anyway,
nintendo is trying to revolutionize the gaming wolrd, changing the way we play games, and i respect this. But they stick with the same games over and over again. nintendo is remaking games that where already remakes, taking their characters in differents situations, making a plumber doing dance , baseball and tennis, and they want to revolutionize something? i mean, hardware revolution is cool, but software revolution either. sticking the same old characters in sports tittles, remaking old classics one after the other, making 6 time the same game with new additions, sticking with the same concept over and over again and pumping the the fruit 'till there's no juice in it isn't trying to revolutionizing the software industry , and for the most of time, isn't even a software evolution . if they don't understand this, there will be always something missing. nintendo is really disapointing me, and i have less and less hope in their future every day, its sad to say, but it's true.

Sonic CD and Sonic Jam are nothing like the masses of "Stick Mario in" games. I'm personally sick of seeing Mario in almost every official Nintendo released game. Sonic did have a few but at least Sega knew when to draw the line unlike Nintendo.

I like DDR a lot, it seems that every iteration Konami has managed to make it fun to go back to, but this.... it just seems like both of them are grasping at straws for this one.

Sonic CD is actually my favorite 2D Sonic game, and it has the best soundtrack of all Sonic games IMHO. I certainly wouldn't classify it as an uninspired game.

 

I think CD is bizzare, and do agree with the sound but how can you go wrong with CD audio... CD was impressive at release but the more I recollect, I feel Sega messed up, it plays like a tech demo. Yeah sound is nice but the gameplay... I believe CD's purpose was to resurrect the MCD, in which it was unsuccessful. IMO Sonic 2 > Sonic CD and Sega obviously agrees since the series progressed from 2 instead of CD. I suppose I shouldn't have lumped it in with the rest as the others REALLY are horrible. No more OT for me.

 

Even though Mario is in a lot of games, it is quite refreshing to know he will be around for a long time, still making us happy, or sad...
I thought Mario and Luigi Superstar saga was so Damn awesome, it wasnt even funny. ( Even though the game was Hilarious).

But on the topic of overused Icons...what do you guys think of Megaman? There is no telling how many games is in that series. (X, and all other related stuff, etc.)

The Simpsons and Mario...both of which will probably never die.
