One thing i can't really understand is why konami after all these years have finally decided to bring DDR over to the gamecube. It's hardly the most popular series anymore, it peaked a few years ago.

Anyone hoping for a proper DDR game might as well just give up now as i can gurantee that the will go down the exact same route as they did with Disney DDR on N64. Basically dumbing it down for the younger player, the fact they have put mario in it makes me think this even more.

Either way i'll still buy it as they make great collectables :smt043

& for everone moaning about it, simple answer is dont buy it, it's not like nintendo is forcing you all or anything. I can fully understand why some of you are pissed off with them adding mario to lots of games but hey, its nintendo who do you think they were gonna use. Id rather have mario anytime than some bland shite generic character like billy the bear or tommy the tiger.

It's not exactly the characters themselves, but how Nintendo handles it. Throughout the N64 and GCN's life, Nintendo has used Mario-Based games as filler for a true Mario game (Which would be the Super Mario and Mario RPG series), and holds it off until the next generation.

I wish that they made more true Mario games. A REAL Super Mario RPG sequel, (joint Square effort) would be nice... One thing I think Nintendo should do is remake Super Mario World/Mario 3 in 3D :) I'd like to see how that'd turn out.

BTW, I agree that Megaman is so overused it's not even funny. It has progressed from one of my favorite titles to one of my least.

In what sense? I'm not terribly knowledgeable about the Megaman series, but I had the impression that the far majority of MM games are the platform games, with an occassional FMV game on Saturn and appearance in Marvel VS Capcom...

Plus, Megaman only had one TV series that I know of so far, so it's nowhere near as bad in that sense. Mario has had at least 3 truly awful American (or Canadian?) series, and... sorry to remind to remind you about a certain WORST FILM EVER...

Yes, a few days ago it was.

  9. The problem everyone has with Megaman is that just like Mario, it's being whored out at unimaginable levels. The first 1-7 games on the NES were cool, and Megaman X and X2 on the SNES were the pinnacles of the series. We are now up to something like Megaman X10, with a special spinoff series for Zero, and some ridiculous Network Battle games. Each successive iteration after X2 has just been the same ridiculous thing, except there's no little quirks added to make the games even remotely enjoyable anymore.

I guess Nintendo should be commended for not making tons of shitty platformers to use Mario as filler in, but they aren't doing much better.
