After a long time of putting it off, I finally got a damn good idea for a website. I got the enter page completed, and it looks right, too. :dance However, with every story of something good that happens, something evil lurks as well. The problem? I want to make a home page with a light background of this image. Like a watermark. So I put it in as a watermark, and publish the file to HTM, but when I preview it in a web browser, I cant see it at all. WTF? Can someone help me out? Thanks
No, not like that, I would like a full-screen version of that pic, perhaps like a background, for my home page, and I would like it less darker, too. I put that into my document as a watermark, and stretched it to the whole page, but when I preview it, I dont see anything. I just tried view source, and that doesnt do it, either. :smt022
Do you have photo shop? If you do then you could actually just lighten the image. Also what resolution are you doing this in? Remember that while the image may fill up the whole background on your PC it may actually be too big or small for other resolutions. yakumo
You can use a Style Sheet, that will essentially make 2 layers of your website, the back being the wallpaper, the front being your site.
Where do I get a style sheet? @Yakumo, I dont think photoshop can lighten it just right. This is what I want to do, and put text on top of it.
You generally make a style sheet You can lighten that with Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro or whatever. see?
What kind of software are you using to make the website? Are you coding the whole thing by hand or using something like Dreamweaver?
Im using wordperfect10 and publishing it to HTM. Thats probably the worst way, too. What are good site maker utilities?
Ugh. Use a dedicated piece of software, like Dreamweaver. Or write it in Notepad - that's what I used to do!! You can get a 30 day trial of Dreamweaver, though - enough to code a site *edit* Quick and dirty sample for ya here.
Well, okay, I am going to get my stuff in order, and then make my site this Saturday. I hope its good enough to get a host from Gamespy. I need to make a "classic museum", too. Easier said than done, though, im afraid.
ROFLMAO!!! Well, its a site I use just for junk - usually images so u don't get that. You need a popup blocker - why haven't you upgraded to SP2?? Oh wait, is that Firefox? I guess it doesn't block popups that well, then The ads aren't just popups on gamespy. You go to the page, and get some shitty ad full page. Then at the top in teeny letters, it says "click to continue"
It doesnt bother me. IGN and Gamespy, as well as gamespot, have probably the best game databases around. Pop-up land is VGmuseum. BTW, I have a pop-up blocker, because my computer will block the new message pop-up when it comes from private messages, lol.
