Anyway, if you use something like dreamweaver then setting your background images is a piece of cake.

But, doing it all by hand will make you learn more.

It was a joke about the popup ad in the image.

  4. You're still a winner in the spammers' eyes!

I was gonna say, in terms of sheer power, it's hard to beat Notepad. Hell, with all the time spent trying to jump your way through the damn interface hoops in most commercial site design programs, you could create a first-person shooter utilizing naught but the power of HTML coding!!

...I jest, but not by much.

Yeah, Ben Heckendorm did in fact make a first person adventure game with compass commands to move using HTML.
    That man is a genius

    OR
can someone point me to a better web maker that allows to make two styles like Tachikoma said?

    I don't like frontpage.

You can download a 30 day trial of Dreamweaver from www.macromedia.com. There is a reason why it is used by the majority of pro web designers ;)

If you like it, buy a license key ;)

Ok, this is probably a stupid question, but how do I open this when I downloaded it? I put it into adobe reader, before I extracted the folder or something weird, and it when it extracts it shows me an icon with the Adobe pic, and its name. What do I use to view it, and do I need to know anything about opening ".PART" files, too??? The file is called a .PART file, and .zip is still in the name. Can anyone help me out, here?
    Thanks

I don't think you downloaded it properly. You did something wrong anyway.

If you downloaded Dreamweaver, it ought to be an executable.

The "part." file means you only got part of the file, i.e. not a complete download.

Take all your .part files and put them in one directory, then unzip them. Then find the one with the exe. and run that. It should compile and run fine, if you're missing any parts you'll get error messages.

You might have to use something like winzip or extractnow to do it. I didn't know you could extract files with Adobe acrobat reader.

If you want a good free HTML editor then I recommend Arachnophillia.

Its not full of dialogues and stuff....its basically just a fancy-ish notepad designed specifically for HTML :)

I think one of the early ones I tried was CoffeeCup. Still say Dreamweaver is the best, though.

I also still say notepad is great for really learning HTML. If you want an editor to learn HTML, don't. Get a book on HTML instead, or go to a site and learn up.

    http://www.w3schools.com/ is great.

Yeah, you have better control when you write the whole thing out yourself.

Problem is, who has time to do all that? I find it more time effcient to use a program like dreamweaver, then tweak it by hand.

However, my site looks like shit for the most part, so don't listen to me.
