I read somewhere that Nintendo was working on a stereoscopic 3D screen for the Gamecube, and Luigi's Mansion would've supported it.
I saw a patent for a gamecube screen. Need to dig it up. But I don't remember if it was a sterescopic one. But it will be better to look for a Sharp patent, as they work closely with Nintendo on most screen related projects.
Also found another one. It is a Patent from Gunpei Yokoi, and it seems to be another vision of his Virtual boy Controller : Personnaly, I prefer the final design, with the rounded shape. https://www.google.fr/patents/USD37...ved=0ahUKEwju2N7RjI7OAhWmIJoKHRKUDNUQ6AEIXzAH
I have found an article about this : http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/01/the-gamecube-and-the-game-boy-advance-were-3d-compatible/ I wonder if someone ever tried to have a look at the gamecube stereoscopic capabilities.
Digging up a bit this thread. Found another goofy patent about the Wii controller. This could have been better to avoid to have a wired pad connected to the Wiimote. Also, found another Patent from October 2016, the 18th, related to the Wii U. I didn't read it yet, but after a first look, seems to be related to sound positionning in a 3D space. http://pdfpiw.uspto.gov/.piw?PageNum=0&docid=09473699&IDKey=7DB68038D78D &HomeUrl=http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2%26Sect2=HITOFF%26u=%252Fnetahtml%252FPTO%252Fsearch-adv.htm%26r=2%26p=1%26f=G%26l=50%26d=PTXT%26S1=nintendo%26OS=nintendo%26RS=nintendo
