a 2004 title on the Chihiro arcade system. This is the first time I read/hear about it actually and I m curious if it was actually any good and why it wasn't ported to home consoles! http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=729&page=1#2232
The soundtrack to this game is pretty damn awesome. Not as many tracks as JSR but all good. God I wish sega would get off their ass and release this for PSN/360. Hell if they must, make it require motion controls so it can try to mimic the arcade game. Bingo!
Thanks to KINECT and MOVE there is an possibility that Ollie King get's resurrected, hell even After Burner Climax got an home version eventually .
Like i always say, Sega doesn't like money. If they did, they would port every single arcade game to home consoles, just like they did on the 80's / early 90's. By the way, it's hilarious they even bothered to port 18 Wheeler and King of Route 66 instead of better games. And they should have learned something with Namco, by adding content on the home ports instead of just porting the game.
No I haven't actually. Just it's another 3rd party publisher's device. Ride controller could work. Hell even the Wii balance board would work (probably even better actually). I just sadly don't have a wii anymore. =P
No it works, just it takes a lot of effort to do what you want. I think my biggest issues was having to perform kick tricks as you have to Ollie (hitting the back of the board fast) then tilt the board while the front is still up. It's not as easy as it should be. For just pure dicking around, it's sort of fun if you can get it for $50 or less. My wife had a lot of fun on it. Personally, If activision wants to salvage the board. They're best to do re-releases of TH1,2,... for XBLA/PSN that are Ride Board Compatible.
You know, I thought I'd seen this control mechanism before on Sega hardware, and it turns out they've got a picture of that game too: http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=725&gid=2197#2197 There are piles of Sega arcade experiments that should have had home releases, but never got the exposure to produce any demand for them. My favorite happens to be 'Wildriders', a cel-shaded motorcycle sim.
I played it. It was fun... love the graphics... couldn't hear the music b/c game centers are so loud. It really gave you a feel of moving (and a little vertigo). Shame about no port, but I'm not sure that it would've worked outside the game center.
Haven't ever seen a Wild Riders cabinet to have a go on :crying: Never heared of Soul Surfer before, but it looks like it could be good fun. I'd love a PSN/XBLA port of Planet Harriers as that's another game I've never had the chance to play.
Speaking of Chihiro games, why did they never release Virtua Cop 3 on Xbox? I would have preferred that over House of the Dead 3 (which I bought anyway). Well, I guess it's probably the same reason that there were tons of good arcade games that never got ported; that is, Sega is stupid. Hm... just answered my own question I guess.
As I understand it, Virtua Cop 3 needed a pedal (for bullet time) and better crosshair tracking than you could get with just the blobby white light ball. It would have been $250 worth of peripherals for a game that would have sold to maybe fewer than 8,000 fans. Those are just rough guesses and not based on any actual research, I hasten to add.
As I remember Planet Harriers was a simple shooting game, the only gimmick being first and second player characters were tethered together.
