I have recently purchased the 8 wire onechip from eurasia for my pal psone and had a couple of questions. Is kynar 30awg sufficient for all of the wires? And does anyone have a good installation guide to help me with this process.

    Thank you.

    The wires will do.
Pretty sure that Eurasia has their own libary of pictures and diagrams for the installs?
What model number does your PSone have? :)

The model number is SPCH-102. My question about the wires is because I went into a hardware store and the assistant told me there is multiple wires of each gauge and they can handle different amps. Do I need to worry about this?

Don´t worry, the wires should do just fine.
Here is a picture of the install you have to do:

I have one of those chips in my PSone as well, and it will work just fine :)
Remember to always use flux when soldering!
Let me know if you have any more questions, and let us know how the install went!
    Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to get 0.25mm twisted wire tomorrow. How do you fix the chip to the pcb, or is it okay to leave it suspended?

I've used 30AWG for PS1 modchips and haven't had any issues.

Use very thin wire for the signals and a bit thicker for Vcc and ground.
You can fix the IC with some tape or leave it floating. Just make sure it's isolated from making contact with the board or shield.

You should look at the pictures closer.

They are the 2 revisions of psone motherboard.

So which ever one matches your console. You won't find the points on the pic if you pick the wrong one.

Is there any difference in the points, except pin 8? which I believe is ground?

Actually you are correct, the number was covering a bunch of the pads which made it look similar to the other board revision.

Those pics are both the same, pin 1 and 8 are only power and could use alternative point.

My mistake! Seems I should follow my own advice :) (in my defence, on my phone so pic small and not able to have both open at once)

I have install pics in my sales thread too

So it doesn't matter which picture I follow?

No, cause both pictures is exactly the same.
Except pin 8, which I assume is ground anyway, so there shouldn´t be any problems at all :)

    Edit:
Hmm, perhaps pin 2 is different as well, actually.
But you can easily redo it, if it doesn´t boot.

IIRC Pin 2 can be soldered in either resistors, there's not a bigger difference. It's only a question of wich line is the signal read...

I just want to thank everybody as I was able to complete the task. Though I have a few questions!

My orignals work fine. My import of Xenogears works fine. Currently backups boot but do not proceed to the game menu. They just hang on a black screen with the sound of the laser trying to read. My laser is actually relatively fresh in terms of use and I'm using Taiyo Yuden CDRs with CloneCD. Could it be a bad press (USB CDRW), a bad rip or does the laser require adjustment?

    Thank you.

well if the laser has seen relatively little use, then I doubt it needs adjusting (provided its an original laser and not a replacement)
it's probably more likely the way you're burning them. Maybe try a slower speed?

I've tried the slowest speed (1x). It's strange because the game initially loads. Could it be that the laser needs some adjusting just for CDRs?
