    Never burn at the slowest possible speed. Always use one step below the fastest speed bin.
    Reason is that burners, media and firmwares are optimized for fast speeds and you get lots of errors below that.

    There is no rule on speed. firmware of the drive and the media you are using have a lot of variables when together.

    I should really do a post on this topic, that I can link to, as it seems to come up every couple of months.

    Basically, burn slowest speed isnt a thing these days. It was important back in the day to prevent buffer underrun, but burners now can adaptive adjust burning speed and computers are much faster and able to keep the buffer full.

    Yes, we're sorely missing a guide on finding the optimal write speed for old console game backups.
    My burner and media work best at 40x, for example. at 32x or any of the really low speeds, I get a tons of correctable errors.
    The pc is fine with those disks but on a Playstation, FMV skip a lot or won't work at all.
    All I can say for sure is that the old "burn at lowest speed" recommendation is bad for current writers and media.
