I was watching RE 1.5 team progress since first FB photo leak and I a glad that the fixed game will be released sometime in 2013. This showed us that nothing is impossible if we want to do it. I have some question related to other Capcom unreleased PSX game... Is it possible that in near future someone will leake Onimusha for PlayStation One? Also are there more videos or information from magazines or web sites about this first version of Onimusha?
According to Gamespot Capcom officialy announced game in April 1999 and Japan release date was planned for Winter 1999. Name of the game was Onimusha: Demon Warrior. I manage to find one page prescreen in EDGE. I havent played PS2 Onimusha but according to article, plot is same as in released version. Engine is Resident Evil 2 engine and its stated that in Japanese launch preview only one level was available. Accordning to EDGE release date for game was Christmas (Japan). According to wikipedia: The PS1 version of Onimusha was about 50% complete before it was cancelled. Here is link to "rumor" about Onimusha switching to PS2. At Tokyo Game Show 1999. Capcom offical announced that Onimusha became PlayStation 2 videogame. Tentative release date was summer 2000. Here are more info from IGN. Here is something important: Capcom on that TGS released 3 videos of PSX version: Intro CG, Battle montage and Puzzles and battles. I cant find this videos only. According to GIA: Of particular interest is the introduction movie, highlighting some of the most realistic human figures ever seen in computer-generated FMV. I managed to find E3 2000. Onimusha and Dino Crisis 2 video. Here is information about game from GIA. They is some wrong info that Onimusha started as N64 game which is false. There is also info about first videos of Onimusha on Japanese TV from February 2000. Do you have more informations, scans or videos about game?
I remember finding some additional Onimusha gameplay footage on some youtube video a year ago, but there was only a minimum of additional footage. And, since 1.5 is released, it's probable that another holy grail of unreleased games will come. There's a possibility of RE community focusing on trying info or beta material for early RE4 versions. But I somehow doubt it. Back when that started, they were more active. And if they would try to search them, how long would that take? 10 years? Who knows. There's always a chance of any kind of a leak. And to my knowledge, there is not a bioflames-esque widespread search for PSOne Onimusha, but who knows. Never say never. Random leaks could happen anytime. I never believed PS1 Baldur's Gate could be released. And just last year, PS1 Robocop and Gen13 tech demo's were leaked. And there's a weird pattern. All of the unreleased game PS1 leaks had a coverage for PSMuseum.
Thanks on answer. So if PSX Onimusha was 50 % completed and similar to PS2 game, there is chance than in near future someone release build and finish rest of the game with materials from PS2 game. To bad that there isnt search Is there some other informations about game from magazines or web sites? To bad that GIA videos are lost in time
Well, I am not the one you should ask about modding or hacking, but for an unreleased game, there's not a way to just simply finishing it. It could be more than 50% completed, or even less. Who knows, wikipedia is not really a best source of information on unreleased games. Sure, that video looks nice, but probably a beta build of it would be full of bugs, unfinished rooms, and everything else. But I agree, that every potentionally unreleased game, like this one, is a great addition to unreleased game preservation. And no, they can't use materials from a PS2 game to a PSOne era game. I hope that someone who is an experienced hacker can give you more detailed response.
Sorry because of misunderstanding I mean if the PS2 game is very similar to PS1 unfinished version (for example locations and other stuff) then team with skill (like in RE 1.5 case) can make missing content and complete the game. I understand that PS2 version has same story and (similar?) level design Of course graphic and enemies are better and there is change in look of textures but if everything is same and can be done in PS1 engine there is chance And from videos gameplay is the same.
UPDATE: Kid Fenris has uploaded 4 page article about PSX version of Onimusha from Dengeki PlayStation! http://kidfenris.com/onipm61199a.png http://kidfenris.com/onipm61199b.png http://kidfenris.com/onipm61199c.png http://kidfenris.com/onipm61199d.png To bad that I don't know Japanese language

Thanks Celine Could you do a rough translation of Console + 90 scan? Or its similar like Edge preview?
mpx > Nothing special about this text, it's a very simple presentation of the game. Consoles + 89 - June 1999 Edge 73 july 99 Player One 99 - july 1999 (Playmag 37 - June 1999
Has anything ever been mentioned about the whereabouts of a playable copy (in any shape or form) in the hands of collectors outside of Capcom? Now 1.5 is pretty much here. This is the new Holy Grail for me. Great scans by the way
I'm sure if there's any mentions of builds anywhere, it'll just be unfounded assumptions, kind of like how supposedly Shenmue Saturn might be in some collectors hands. People just say stuff :/ This looks heaps better than RE1.5. Now if we can avoid it actually becoming the new RE1.5, with threats and drama... =p
I hope that this last build surface one day Btw does somebody know more about 3 Onimusha PSX videos from Capcom official web site? Maybe someone in past has saved videos and now they are long time forgotten on some CD or HDD? Also can someone post scans from UK or US magazines?
I have found more information about game I have upload everything that I found for now in one rar file File Key: Gr291zAoF0GzO0Ta22bIIzJAq5UeeXyStFzF_-aM-Bk
