Original X-Box in HD

If you have recently seen the latest buys/purchases thread you will have seen my bargain blue xbox with controllers and games for £5.50 :thumbsup:

I have just noticed on the back of the boxes of Sonic Hero`s & Soul Calibre II that is shows a box along with players/Dolby Digital etc another "HDTV", but as in a foreign language I can`t tell what it means.

I do have the correct leads for this at home courtesy of Demon-DM7 (here) some time ago.

So would it then be possible for me to play these in HD? all be in probably on 720

According to http://hdgames.net/, Sonic Heroes will do 480p and SC II will do 480p and 720p.

720p, I can confirm. I think one of the burnout games, if not more, had 720p on the XBOX (Whereas the GC ver did 480p max)

 

XBMC will spit out an upscaled 720p/1080i signal from a native 480p video file. It makes a rather good job of it too from what I've seen.

I've just got the component cable/digital optical breakout box thing, though have yet to get round to trying it out!

 

I hate you I almost had a friggin heart attack because I thought Starcraft 2 was out and in HD. But NO it's Soul Calibur 2...:banghead:

 

SCII is 4:3 only, but looks brilliant in HD. The last MVP baseball also looks damn-near 'next-gen'

 

I m not sure if this holds true frame-buffer-wise but I understand that 1080i and 720p use the same amount of bandwidth so it's a plausible scenario in my mind at least. I hope it's not the sort of "HD" GT4 does though.

Only remember a couple of Xbox games in 1080i. Crash Nitro Car for example...

Yeah it can do 720P, but too bad it's only online. I doubt many people are hooking up their VT controllers every night to go play some SB. =P

 

Ninja Gaiden can be played in 720p and looks stunning.

you can play it on 360 in upscaled 720p mode though.

I got Amped 2 for xbox just because it can play in 720p widescreen. I got it before my 360 and for a time it was the only "HD" content I had.
It looks like a 360 game!, its that good.
