Has anyone tried the USB port mod for the OG xbox ? What's the point of it anyway ? I can't really find much info about it online. If somebody would link a tutorial, that would be nice.
It really serves little purpose at this point. You could have keyboard and some simple USB support without adapters for Linux, but realistically few people would use that now. Even USB memory sticks, compatible sizes are too small to be useful enough to warrant the mod.
Unless you are making a slim box just use the usb converter leads (cheaper than buying a usb connector)
I did it to mine, but haven't used it very much. Support for usb seems to increase when using xbmc (my 8gb kingston wouldn't work with the official dashboard, but it works with xbmc).
i remember i had the 4th controller port as a usb port back when they where still current gen, i mainly just used it for copying stuff off or on via usb (small stuff like saves etc), or having a usb keyboard stuck in to it, but as has been suggested you might as well get the adapter,
I'll be using USB ports on my xbox laptop but that's mostly to save space and I can get USB ports with dust covers or water proof ones..
Thanks for the info. Somebody suggest me a cool Xbox mod. I have a mint 1.6 crystal, that's softmodded. Yesterday I put in a bigger HDD. Anything else I could do ?
I'm probably going to wait until bennydiamond finishes he's modchip and buy it from him. Yes, led's would look really good in a crystal Xbox, thanks for the idea.
Certainly change the ROL LEDs. Blue looks really nice on the crystal systems. I'm also waiting for Benny's chip
I will probably use these led's for the whole system http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-Blue-Red...Case_Mods_Stickers_Decals&hash=item3a8df2e2fb But what led's should I use for the ROL ?
I wouldn't go overboard with LEDs. Keep it mature, it will be an eyesore after a while... LEDs just make sure they are 3mm, any bigger won't fit in the light guide.
