I am thinking of getting an Original Xbox console and my friend really wants me to get one. Do you guys think I should get one. What are some of the games on it and some of the awesome things on the console. I just don't want to blow money on something I won't play.
Yes, it worth the money. Black, Kung Fu Chaos, Jet Set Radio Future, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, Dinosaur Hunting and Forza are my favourite games. You can do a lot of things with XBOX: XBMC, emulators, etc.
Asking others "should I get it?" is pointless. Do your research on what games there are, and make your own choice. I can easily say "yes", then you'll have your own opinion anyway.
Not much. Its the most famous scene console of all times and there are very few obscure games since the japanese exclusive catalog is ridiculous (like 10-15 games). There are excelent games but very well known. It had the best ports of that generation so far, specially things like Wreckless that looks like two generations ahead the Playstation 2 and Gamecube versions.
I'm going to agree with this. It really is up to personal preference. While the OG does have solid exclusives, there are some clunkers on there as well. Just like pretty much every other system
The Xbox is worth it and softmodding it is very easy, so that's what you should do, when you get it. A modded Xbox is a perfect gaming machine
Yeah, and the multiplats from that generation look far and away superior on the Xbox. Plus if you softmod it, you can put in a bigger hard drive (though for just game saves, the one it ships with is fine).
Like what? The Xbox is known for it's great homebrew, and everything else is general knowledge. The system is the most powerful of that generation so, like others have said games will look and play better. Really, if you want an Xbox, buy one. If you don't... don't buy one.
Plus if you're at all on the fence, I'm relatively certain that systems and games are as cheap as they'll get. At least in the US.
You should get Phansty Star Online Episode 1 & 2 on the system & maybe The House of The dead 3 and Rent-A-Hero no.1
The OG was certainly a powerhouse for its time. Also definitive versions of GTA III & Vice City certainly help its cause. As others have said, games are mega-cheap. The Exchange has rows and rows of them for $5 flat.
On top of all the great XBOX games, the machine emulates most 8 and 16 bit consoles to a high standard, and there are also some amazing arcade emulators. It will also put all this goodness out via 720p component so it looks great on newer TVs.

One good reason to get an Xbox is when it comes to multiplatform games, in a lot of cases the Xbox got the better version. I.e it runs at a higher frame rate or has extra features like 5.1 sound.
