done some research and yep - its an emu - and the seller admits the quality is 'different' from the actual playstation. so it was a nice try I guess, still something pretty unique but not quite a clone.
Still quite impressive, though, even if it's not really a clone. Those wacky chinese clone-companies! "different" quality probably means it won't run most games, though, right?
Hi, First of all: No, I don't have this machine but I know a little of its electronics. I don't understand why this machine is not a clone. The heart of many of these PSX-compatible VCDs and DVDs is one T-Square System-On-A-Chip microprocessor. Probably the T6301 or the T6302. This chip is a little wonder. It has a built-in T2 microprocessor and several more input and output devices and can emulate an 8/16 or 32 bit game machine with the appropriate code. This software has the low level calls in the same position that the emulated system and redirects the data to the necessary places. So, in my opinion, it clones the whole machine in a chip.
Wait, it's actually a PSX compatible multi-system on a chip? THAT is one impressive little chip, actually. A multiclone, of sorts. You've seen these machines or similar in action?
This is... quite an interesting development. Where did you found about it? I've been googling like mad for sutch a chip for weeks.
Same here! I wonder how the pirates made it, it sounds a helluva lot more complicated than those NES-on-a-Chip thingies.
XerdoPwerko wrote: You've seen these machines or similar in action? Yes I have seen various machines with this chip. The last that I found is the one that you can see in this thread: http://www.assemblergames.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=3537 Por cierto XerdoPuerko veo que eres Argentino. Déjame mandarte un saludo desde España. Oye, ¿SerÃa posible que me compraras un chisme de estos en la Argentina y mandarmelo para acá? Takashi wrote: Where did you found about it?
This is bound to spread to our regular european pira-erm, chinese shops... Especially since it's perfectly legal - (and it is, since no cloned chips exist, and that agreement screenshot on that russian site seems to point to a BIOS-free emulator, VGS/Bleem style)
There can't be a BIOS free PSX emulator, the PSX actually uses it's BIOS. I suppose it's legal to hack a BIOS beyond recognition.
Connectix reverse-engineered it for VGS, which was the other pay-emu for PSX (other than Bleem, that is). No actual bios file involved.
Look at the bright side, the chances that we understand the Danish language are pretty low Also, this contains (almost) all the necessary documentation to build a PSX BIOS-free emulator. It's not exactly a corporate secret, but of course, using a BIOS provides "perfect" emulation.
Went to the black market yesterday. Lots of VCD and DVD units with built in famiclones, and similar 8 bit crap. No sign of megadrive or "32 Bit" Clones, though. Then again the people that sell the stuff usually know shit about them, so it's no use asking a lot. I did come across several funky looking famiclones, though not many uncommon famiclone carts. The dreamcast copies are pretty much gone. Looks like no more dreamcast piracy for a while. Not much in terms of PSX piracy, either. Lots of XBox and PS2 stuff, and pirated GBA carts all around, though, and a lot of (gasp!) original software for all three systems. Lots of used PSX and SNes stuff, too. Let's see if the next trip to the black market is more fruitful.
There's also Emurayden, which is a Spanish/Chinese and also English version updated hack of VGS. Not precisely legal, but it's REALLY stable. I like it better than ePSXe. I can't get that one to work properly. Works too fast (even at very insane resolutions and quality) in my good pc, and works too slow (even at the worst settings) in my old pc. damn ePSXe
