Copy the drive contents to your PC, ZIP it up.

No offense intended here, but why would someone who doesnt even know how to copy files to their PC have a dev box?? Isnt copying the contents to your PC one of the most basic things you can do with it, especially compared to coding and such?

( Im sorry, I just figured that someone with a dev box would at least know how to, you know, "dev" with it:icon_bigg)

Sorry if i come off like a dick.

Before you do anything, dump the HDD raw. Do you have a SCSI card to hook up the Katana? If so you can hook up the HDD to that same card directly. You don't even have to remove the HDD from the box, the connectors are avilable if you remove the cover. But I'd recommend removing it. It's just a couple of extra screws.

If needed I can write up a tutorial and add some pictures. This comes up every couple of months anyway, so it should be codified.

Upload it to mediafire or megaupload/rapidshare, so we could see if we can get to boot those files.

And yeah a guide would be great for those who do knot know how to dump the contents of the HDD.

Btw a friend is going to get a katana with full game data on it ( not deleted I mean ) from an unreleased game, is there any chance of source code being there?
Or the source code is usually only in the PC that connects to that katana?

Raylyd: Thank you for uploading / sharing this with us. Are you still uploading? The link above is for Giant Killers.

Neoblast: The source code is usually left on the PC and sometimes not even on the developer's PC since it would be on a network share to ensure all of the developers were using the most up-to-date version.

Looking through the files, I think this might have been another case of the developers loading the main binary in through CodeScape. I'm guessing this is a Windows CE game since I see references to CE libraries and this game was also on PC? Aside from the memory test application, it looks like the contents are just the game assets.

I also found an image that mentions that this was just a demo of the game.

Hmmm assets for the demo only maybe?
Or just that the demo assets are there as well.....
    So.... no main binary.. crap..

I can't say for certain. If someone who has the retail version could check to see what the files / structure is supposed to look like, that would help. I quickly looked over the files used in the GD-Workshop project and it looked like they were all just game assets supporting the theory that the Katana never contained the main binary.

he should try a recovery program so maybe a deleted bin file could pop up.
But we might face the same problem as in ecco...
