Nintendo president Satoru Iwata told a Japanese newspaper that the Revolution will be in North American stores by Thanksgiving. Still no word from Iwata on the system’s price, though he did quip in the article that “Even if it’s a superb machine, it’s not going to sell if it’s 50,000 yen ($434). We plan to make [the Revolution] an affordable price.†Looks like Nintendo and Sony are going to battle it out again
November, I'm afraid. Thanksgiving is the third Thursday. I was hoping it would be a bit sooner than that.
N/M already answered so now when the date has been set.. I thought was coming in the summer =/ but on the other hand that article on ign about the downloadable game prices kind of made me understand that it wasn't ready yet..
Pfff, if the Revo is going to be just 2 times the power of the GC then I don't see why it coulnd't be sold at 200$ right now...
The fact that he is thinking about the american release speaks volumes. The Japanese release must be planned out to perfection if he's talking about the us release. Poor europe.. Going to have a long wait again.
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/01/18/revolution-hitting-north-america-by-thanksgiving/ that's bullshit....
who said it would be 2 times the power of the GC, apart of some random casual players on a nameless forum? dont forget it as wireless is about 3 dvd case big, have 512mb of flash inside, motion sensitive, positioning, depth and speed controller as well as something we dont know about yet.
I seem to remember an interview saying nintendo were aiming for simultaneous worldwide release - now, whether europe count as part of the world is questionable, but that is pretty good news
Revolution would include 128MBs of RAM, or possibly less. Developers have clarified the makeup based on officially released Nintendo documentation. Revolution will build on Gamecube’s configuration of 24MBs 1T-SRAM and 16MBs D-RAM (40MBs) by adding an addition 64MBs of 1T-SRAM. The result is a supply of memory in Revolution that totals 104MBs. That number does not consider either the 512MBs of allegedly accessible (but hardly ideal) Flash RAM or the Hollywood GPU's on-board memory, said to be 3MBs by sources. Revolution's Broadway CPU, developed by IBM, is an extension of the Gekko CPU in GameCube, according to official Nintendo documentation passed to us by software houses. The Hollywood GPU, meanwhile, is believed to be an extension of the Flipper GPU in GameCube. Since developers have not gone hands-on with the GPU, they can only go on Nintendo documentation, which is limited. Exact clock rates were not disclosed, but one development source we spoke to had this to say of the Revolution CPU and GPU: "Basically, take a GameCube, double the clock rate of the CPU and GPU and you're done." ign.com as the source of specs
Wow. Lets hope IGN is telling the truth this time All nintendo is doing is releasing a system based around the Gamecube, which makes the transition from GC development to Revo development much easier on the seasoned GC programmers. I highly doubt the RAM will be a total of 128mb. I hope its more if Nintendo wants to attract more third party developers. Besides, its just documentation that nintendo released, in other words, its most likely a brochure released to current nintendo developers, not bland white-paper documentation like a programming manual to the SDKs.
Its IGN pulling the specs from speculation of 1 developer whos speaking about the revolution from what seems like 1 paper that they got from Nintendo who knows how long ago.
Well I was going to reply but skitzo did it first. And dude, Ir positioning devices are old as games themselves. Don't you remember the powerglove?
the thing is that ign got the scoop from developers that got beta developement kits without the Broadway and hollywood. We all know the revolution wont be a beast, but god, lets know the finalized thing, with all secret revealed (and we know theres at least one), before saying some random price based on the fact that the gamecube: without bluetooth technology, wifi internet, CD eating drive that can take normal size discs, as well as prorpierary game cube dics with custom size, 512 mb of flash ram and a controller, far from the powergolve in terms of technology, that can sense your basic up, downs, left and right, forward backwards, depth, tilting towards, tilting forward, left and right tilting, pointing and speed of movement, all this in 3d space, is comparable to the revolution to the point that you can predict a random 200 price. Its feels that it was taken right from gamefaq or something. And basing the cost of a revolution by its hardware power is ridiculous, plain and simple.
so that was a gamecube with a revolution sticker stuck on top of it, all kidding aside, im hyped for the revo, im not a nintendo fanboy, but then again, look at what they've done with the ds, also there's a rumour stating that the revo uses a new type of image mapping, able to draw amazing looking games, with only half the poly's, if indeed its true, than hardware specs would mean nothing Ryan
Well I guess you can say Im a ''sony fanboy'' *rolls eyes* god that term is ghey, granted since n64 this is a system from Nintendo im really excited about. Guess we gotta wait and see.
I think he just knows the importance of having it out before Xmas. If Nintendo are to have a chance, it's gotta be AVAILABLE for the Xmas season.
