So Golem.de just ran a nice short article about Outcast 2: http://www.golem.de/news/outcast-2-...r-niemals-ein-fertiges-spiel-1312-103267.html Basically what the guys are saying: They got the go-ahead from Infogrames to develop a sequel to Outcast although sales were not that great at 400.000 units. But Infogrames was insisiting that it would run on the PS2 instead of the easier to program for Xbox. What they had was basically a running tech demo, but since the head of their studio left and the new one took a completely different design direction the game was never completed, Infogrames also got into financial trouble and therefore didn't support them any further. What you can see in the video is still amazing considering this is running on PS2 hardware! The rights for the Outcast franchise are back with the original Dev-team, maybe we will see another game from them in the future?

Interesting stuff. I loved Outcast and I developed a bit of an obsession with Voxel Engines for a time, Delta Force made pretty good use of them IIRC.
Thanks Borman, was at work when I posted the article and didn't have time to follow the links, therefore only the short writeup
