Am I missing something here? It doesn't look like this game has the courses from the original OutRun 2, only the SP ones! There's no original OutRun music either. Both of these things were in Coast 2 Coast so how hard could it have been to make a straight port? The game itself is still excellent but damn, talk about another minimum effort Sega porting :-(
I'm sure Sega will take great pleasure in charging us all extra to download the original Outrun 2 tracks. I bet if this sells well enough they'll make the other 15 tracks available for £5.99 or something daft. Still, this is out on PSN tomorrow and I can't wait to start thrashing Ferraris at rediculously high speeds.
I hope it is, too, for everyone who would be able to use it. For some inexplicable reason, the PSN version of this game is not coming to the USA. It's XBLA-only. Way to go, SEGA :banghead: I don't want a stupid 360 wireless racing wheel (toy).
It was out on wednesday, got it from the euro store last night. The game is great fun but damn sega why all the glitches (picking your exit too late causes you to end up outside the track itself for instance) . It's clear it's a cheap unpolished port as some of the info screen still have the outrun 2 SP logo in them. Not too mention the voice samples are piss poor quality. Worth it's 800 points but not more by a long shot.
I downloaded this off the PSN earlier on today and I'm very impressed. I've had a proper good thrash with a bright yellow F50 and managed to get the first three trophies. This is well worth £7.99.
I played some briefly, using the G25. Undoubtedly fun, there's an uneasy feeling between the details that make it feel like a rushjob. I finished my first go and I suddenly saw "OutRun 2 SP" written, only to vanish in a flash as if it wasn't supposed to be shown! I haven't had the chance to adjust the wheel to fit my preferences, but judging by the simplistic options there won't be a lot to adjust. The game locks the G25 to the proper "arcade" degrees, instead of 900, and the only manual transmition mode is serial, using either the paddle-shifters or the gear-box (set to serial). Force feedback is minimal, if any, and feels too forgiving - maybe in order to balance the ridge-racer-esque drifting mechanism that partially reminds me of mariokart. I m looking forward to Tuesday to get some free time to play this bad boy, and despite its flaws it feels like being in an arcade all over again =)
Whats wrong with the 360 wheel? I was gunna pick one of those up for around 60$ soon. It looks pretty high quality to me. Is there something I'm missing?
900 degrees of motion and a gear box. good price though, i d get one too at that price. In comparison, the GT official wheel costs about 100 and the G25 about 200+.
I got Saturn PAL Daytona USA-esque borders when playing the game with my beamer..hmm.. It's ok, but they could've done a lot more with it.
Is it a new port, or based off the PS2 version? I know the XBox had a good version released, but I think that was not Coast 2 Coast edition? Also, is it worth getting if you have the PS2 version? Is anything new added? I wish we'd see a new Daytona USA (or even a port of the old games).
I don't even drive a real car, so I dunno if that would bother me when I'm pretending I'm a big boy. The wheel doesn't turn all the way? Gear box?
I also don't drive a real car. We don't need 900 degrees of motion The xbox racing wheel is a hight quality product and works very well with supported games (Forza2, PGR4, Grid). I have one and I don't regret of buying it.
Gear box = transmission. I'm not sure how big a deal the steering wheel lock is, although 90* would be a little short. No one is going to drive with that much steering turn at high speeds
The PS2 version was Coast 2 Coast and the XBox got both Coast 2 Coast and the original version. There's not really anything added except for online leaderboards (I think the PS2 Coast 2 Coast had online play already, but nobody played PS2 games online), but a lot is actually missing compared to Coast 2 Coast: no original OR2 tracks, no original OutRun music and no game modes besides the arcade ones. It's definitely worth the 800 points though, if only to play it with a better controller than the Dual Shock, but I was disappointed at how lacking it was compared to Coast 2 Coast. Thanks to licensing issues, I don't think we'll ever see a port of Daytona USA, at least not one that's called Daytona USA. If they ever make a new one it'll probably be garbage anyway :banghead:
