at least categorize them for the consoles like 15 nos psx controllers, 20 nos gamecube controllers etc. i am pretty sure they will sell well here. i am looking for an official psx scart cable and you probably have it. i would feel very bad, if it went to waste.
make a sale, min buy 5 or 10 controllers per user interested. that way it won't cost you much stress to get rid of all of them. I'm sure many users could use a pack of 2psx+2dreamcast+2saturn+2ps2+2gamecube controllers brand new in a box. do not e-waste them.
+1 for the 5- to 10-pack suggestion. Depending on the shipping costs, I might be interested in a couple.
Someone will likely develop a process to preserve these things much like they do with ancient wood/fibers/metal that have been soaking in water for 1k+ years. Video games are a part of our culture no matter what the scapegoaters might want people to think.
I know at least 3 stockists in the US that would most likely take the lot off you and probably for a decent price too. If you get a list/pictures together then give me a shout and I can sort it out.
How about an assembler store? Add a new tab at the top post up some pics. Ship all your stuff out at the end of the month.
Not sure why you have so many of the same standard controllers because, as you said, it'll probably take longer than any of us will live until they will be worth a considerable amount of money. If I was in your position, I'd sell of ANY unnecessary stuff and keep only the things I really consider to be part of my core collection. That being said, I do not suggest the same "only the good games I will play again"-blahblah so many retired collectors say when they lost their passion, I just say that you should probably try to focus more in order to gain more pleasure from your collection. At least as long as you're not a multi-millionaire, it'll be hard to find the space/time/money to store and buy everything just for preservation's sake. I'd try to focus on something such as "max 2 items of each kind" instead of "7 identical dev-kits, 15 identical TOOLs, 100 new Saturn 3rd party controllers". Personally, I stop hunting an item as soon as I own a brand-new (flawless) one. If I really want to play it, I'll also keep an open copy on top of that, but that's it - third, fourth etc. copies will be sold to further support the collection. And I think it it very satisfying to see it develop like this, without hoarding the same items - especially if they're bulky or even unboxed. Nothing less satisfying than unboxed duplicates.
Yes, Make a Store and put it up there, also add some awesome donation thingys, so I can buy like some controllers, add shipping and make a donation (Webstores are easy to setup, just use some php server with sql. (Ive used opencart (my unused version)))
I second that! Also if you don't have the time to write the store descriptions, I'll do it for like 50c a description or something, I need some sort of employment
Ok, maybe I got it wrong, but I think the problem here is that he's "not going to bust my ass selling and packing 150 boxes to make $650". So the community store doesn't seem to be a great option if he's supposed to sell individual items. It's been pointed out before the idea of doing bundles. That does look like a proper solution. Reasonably priced, it shouldn't be too hard to get rid of some of the extra stuff you've got there. Good luck and keep in mind you've got the best place for selling things like that!
Maybe some of us can buy large and resell it? ship some quantities to europe or asia and distribute from there, share the shipping costs? if someone owns a company you can try tax-free? actualy, I dont know what Assembler all have. But My believe is, Never ever trow away stuff. Ill pay for shipping if you really needs to get rid of some xbox or playstation stuff. unless you peed on it, set it on fire and the damm things dont work anymore, and look disgusting.
I'd like to take a sega genesis and/or a gamecube or two off your hands. EDIT: actually, what consoles do you have? If possible, I'd like to take one of each console off your hands(though that may be a fat chance but, you know, just asking).
