I bought a nice green Debug Xbox from UK, but I myself live in Canada. I plan to replace the PSU with one from Xbox 1.0, but I'm curious what does it take to force this console to output video in NTSC? Is it just software, or some sort of hardware mod is required?

Start up the console into the xdk launcher. Pull both triggers and push the dpad to the left for NTSC U. Push the dpad up for PAL. Down is PAL-M and right is NTSC J. Debugs/Devs are multiregional when it comes to video.

EDIT: I had my directions reversed... i don't switch the video much... :banghead:

  3. ...Or just press 'X' when in the xdklauncher and choose your desired settings from the menu options.

could be hard if you dont have a multinorm tv most time its just flickering so a combination instead of a menu selection is faster and doesnt hurt the eyes so much :eek:h:

I'd like to thank you guys for your help! My debug unit is working perfectly well. All I did is switch the power supply and then use the "both triggers + left DPAD" trick to switch it to NTSC. Really neat stuff.

Now I'm curious if Xbox power supplies can be converted into multisystem (i.e. working with both 110 and 220V). I know that many DVD players allow a really easy conversion, so who knows?

  7. The Xbox doesn't support multi-voltage natively.

...But, if you installed a 240vac supply, you could mod it, so that the voltage was externally selectable, down to 110vac. (The important bit is that you need to start off with a 240vac psu which has the extra step down windings installed)

In reality it would probably be easier just to fit the correct voltage psu whilst you had the thing apart in the first place!

    ...Or use an external transformer!

Well, I ended up swapping PSU with stock USA from 1.0. But now I have prefectly good Xbox 1.0 that I can't use. I may bring it back with me and give it to friends back home in EU then I come for a visit.
