So i've owned a Ps2 debug unit, the pal dtl-h30002 for sometime now. I recently bought an NTSC copy of final fantasy VII, and when i play it, the picture cuts off a huge chunk of the bottom and left parts of the screen. I'm talking like, a good 30% of the bottom.
I am using a toshiba flat screen tv, and a madcatz rgb scart.
I'm not sure what i can do to fix this, The system has had no problem playing my pal games in 60hz.

I don't know shit, but i've theorised it has something to do with either
    -Pal60hz opposed to ntsc60hz,
-just be the one game itself
    -my scart cable
    -my debug bios??

I honestly have no clue how to fix this, but its buggin me.
    (no pun intended)

does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

Forum was hacked. Did you get the thing working BTW?
The latest build of PS1VmodeNeg was working fine on my 77004.

If it's a problem, it'll be difficult for me to fix it because I don't even own a console from that series. :(

If you can hear the PS1 logo sound, then perhaps your TV doesn't support NTSC. Or, it could be that the signal output is invalid (it's possible because the GS chip revision changes between mainboard revisions, and so the GS initialization code found in every boot ROM can be also viewed as being mainboard-specific).

Otherwise, if your console has a modchip, you may have to disable it.

The PS1 driver of the boot ROM v1.90 (SCPH-50004) dump I have appears to be patched properly by the tool, when run within PCSX2. So I don't see anything wrong with it, from there.

Somebody else needs to help you with that, sorry. I am not a Mac user. :/

Can you get WINE on OSX? That might work if you are lucky.

If you followed my advice in my PM you don't need to run disc patcher, as the UlaunchELF image is already master patched for debugs, if you grabbed the one I linked to before the forum got hacked, as mentioned in my PM. Just burn the image with whatever MAC software you use for CD's. Copy the ELF to a USB drive (FAT32) boot the disc and load the ELF. Its really simple

it's chipped with modbo 4 so i'll start with disabling that.
and no, no boot sound or anything, it loads the elf, and gives out a black screen, nothing else.
The tv does support NTSC. I run ULE in NTSC mode too.

i do need to figure out a way to run ULE wit hthe chip disabled though :p
will be a major bummer if the app doesnt cooperate with chips though. :(

Yes, you will need to disable modchip. It doesn't matter if the game is a backup or a legit one, you can't run it with this tool unless you disabled modchip. At least I couldn't in my tests on SCPH-77004.
I suggest that you install FMCB with the chip on, disable it and launch uLE via FMCB. Then you can use this tool. However you will need to swap discs for burned games.

Anyway, by searching around I found that your chip supports "PSX screen fix" so failing this you should be able to enable this option and play import games properly.

yeah, i have the screen fix on the chip options, however, that thing isnt very good so to say :p

it's not really a big deal for me since i mostly play my ps1 games on an actual ps1,
but currently im waiting a new laser for that since it decided to bust on me, so i've been looking at temporary alternatives :p

i'll see what i can do with it, i've been trying to avoid FMCB as much as i can but oh well, doesnt kill me to try i guess xD

At least, FMCB will load your console's OSD configuration properly for your homebrew software and games. Modchips (DEV1/DEV2 booting) don't seem to know how to do that right.

i've been using the chip's DEVmode to boot straight to ULE from the HDD for ages now and never really had any issues with it whatsoever, im just too rooted to my old habits :p
i set it up like this years and years ago and since all my playstations have the same chip in then, it's just flipping the correct DEVMODE from chip menu, and putting the HDD into any machine and all my
junk is there, it's been quite convenient to use.

lol at this point in time we can just toss a signed MBR on a generic HDD, connect to a PS2 console (any type, any region) and it will simply BOOT without any kind of modchip.

Honestly modchips are useless now. ;)

And I've been saying that for like 5 years now.
