    by default 2013-09-02 at 23.18.07.png

    and i copied this file
    by default 2013-09-02 at 23.18.23.png

That is because it is a CD-R image and not DVD-R, as the PS2 has media checks. Burn it to a decent branded CD-R instead, boot the disc and load the "ELF" from USB via the "Mass" option in UlaunchELF. You should not have any problems doing this and if anything happens with the disc, etc, would be you're side, as this works !00%.

Btw, only have the ELF file in the root of the USB, don't have it in a folder, as it should be on its own.

maybe, but mind you i built my setup way more than 5 years ago :p
i believe FMCB didnt even exist back then :loyal:

do tell me more though, if you make my PAL v9 to boot straight into an english translated navi with possibility to launch HDD games straight from it's own HDD browser i'll marry you :love_heart:
or is it still actually impossible to directboot navi on a non japanese machine ? Back when i spent all my days and nights hacking it i got it to run and do all sorts of things but i NEVER got it to boot without
the linux loader thing, which just killed the fun of it :p

Check out FMCB v1.92, which also includes FHDB. FHDB allows you to boot your console with a non-Sony HDD, and without a memory card as well.

As for getting a dashboard that supports multi-8, you can use the Sony HDD OSD (You need a cracked region-free copy, since your console is an European unit).

With HDLGameInstaller, you can even install games to be launched directly from the Sony HDDOSD, as if they were purchased and downloaded into your HDD unit from the PSBBN.

The first console on this planet to do all these with these tools is my SCPH-39006, which never saw official HDD support (No HDD and no network adaptor was ever released here). Although later on, experiments were carried out on my SCPH-10000 as well.

i've seen this stuff but as far as i've seen the HDD OSD is the drive showing up with memory cards etc, not PSBBN itself, right ?
i dont really care for all the easyness and whatnots really, im fine with booting ULE and using HDL unless i get the actual PSBBN to run and function. dont bother asking why :p
it's just one of my silly obsessions xD

back in the day i tried to reverse engineer the BBN disk to get to modify it but i never succeeded in that. Later on i heard the installed partitions were cracked to modify it on the HDD itself but to date ive yet to see a way to actually modify the disk prior to installing it. (aside the DNAS/ATAD patches to allow install on non-jp units and gaining unofficial drive support that made it somehow function)

it has been bothering me for ages why is it so hard to make the ps2 to launch the games straight off the BBN:s hdd screen since it even recognizes the HDL partitions just fine. Theres gotta be a way to patch it to just launch the game straight off.
alas, im not skilled enough to do things with it, and the lack of access to the files in the BBN disk isnt making it any easier to research anything :p

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwzodhyGJV8

that's something along the lines i used to be after. however, even the setup displayed here, while it seems to be fine running ule straight from navi itself, it still used the HDDOSD to launch the games, instead of just running a game directly from navi's hdd screen itself. That is what i tried to fix >.<

well, my devkits and all my data just sit idle nowadays, i just lack motivation, skills and time to pursue this anymore :p

    Bump

still not working for me :(
i'll tell you EXACTLY what i did.

I copied this file to a blank vertabim Cd-r 700mb:
    by default 2013-09-02 at 23.18.23.png

and when i put the disc in my DTL-30002 PAL, driver version (1.10) browser version (1.20) CD player (1.20), it doesnt do anything.
i waited a good 20 seconds and nothing happened sadly.

And i have this file on my Usb formatted to FAT32 for reference:
    by default 2013-09-07 at 20.02.35.png

    any help guys? :)

Its a bit vague when you say copied the file to a CD-R. It would be either be a data disc with the file copied (burned) and accessible (file only i.e "bin" file) or the actually bin file burned, as a standard image and when accessed via the computer the contents of the file are shown. The bin file needs to be burned like you would with any type of PS1 game backup. Imgburn is used on a PC to burn them.

I believe you are a MAC user to which I cannot help you with, as I use a PC and I don't know what MAC users use for burning discs. Like I mentioned in my posts, if any issues arise with burning the disc, etc, would be your'e side. This has been tested by myself and is 100% fail proof. It could be the laser on the PS2 (does it work well with other discs?) poor media, burning program?

There is nothing else I can help with, as I have explained what is needed to do, as there is nothing more to add or to explain on how to burn the image and booting the ELF from USB. All the information is here in the thread and I suggest you see a friend or someone with PC who can help, if no luck with a MAC computer.

    Start uLaunchELF.
    Connect USB stick to PS2.
    Insert FF VII.
Go to mass: and run PS1VModeNeg.elf.
    Profit.

Get yourself a copy of Windows XP running on Bootcamp or Parallels and save yourself a world of pain.

Trust me, I tried to do this on a Mac a few years ago and it's hell.
