Hello everyone, I recently bought this CD in a lot. I played the game quickly and at first glance it seems there are differences with the final version. Is there anyone here that can read and understand Japanese and knows the game pretty well? I'm thinking of taking screenshots or even better a video and post it so we can see what are the differences. Next step is to capture the content of the CD in order to check dates and times which hopefully will give valuable information as to when the CD was burnt. Picture of the CD below. Spoiler: CD
What kind of differences did you notice? Considering the PAL version is shown on Mobygames as having been released a whole year after the original Japanese release, I'm assuming it's nothing that's early content which got cut from the final. Getting the file dates would be a good idea, as you said. That'd settle matters quick
It is PAL but everything is in Japanese though. I'll check it again tonight but one difference at the beginning is that there are no credits and no start menu, it boots straight into the game.
Spoiler: Files Most files are from August and September 1996. > JAP release date: December 6, 1996 > USA release date: October 31, 1997 > EU release date: September 26, 1997
I'm going to make a quick gameplay video hopefully those that know the game well can tell straight away apart from the difference that I pointed out.
Sorry for the bump, but did you ever post a video? I'd be able to tell any differences in the version you discovered.
I too am curious as to this build. Also, for what it's worth here's an early preview of the first game (I remember something minor about it. Skip to 2:07):
The user hasn't been active since February of this year unfortunately. The last time they were on NintendoAge was April. Hopefully they're able to swing back and give us some info. I shot a PM.
I don't honestly think it's very interesting anyway - all the dates and times of the data files are identical to the Japanese retail release, so my guess is that it's just the Japanese release hacked to run at 50Hz.
Ahh, fair enough. I didn't pay close enough attention to those dates. My fault. I haven't played the Japanese version so I might have to check it out.
