I have a little problem on my hands. I recently sold my PSP on ebay to a guy in the UK. I shipped in Jan 18th and all seemed well up until last Friday when the guy filled a paypal claim against me saying he didn't receive anything and that he's been waiting 4 weeks and he didn't get anything (at that time, the auction has only been over for only 2 weeks...not 4). I talked to him a few times during the weekend to get him to back down to allow more time for delivery (it was ground shipping after all with no tracking number) and he simply refused to back down. I have now been emailing him every day this week with no reply from him. I want to bite him back in the butt by sending him an empty box with tracking number that I will submit to PP so that they get off my back with this damn false claim. Would this work? I really didn't want it to come to this but I sure as hell won'tlet him have my money. Any suggestions for better solutions? My 10 days to respond end Monday so I need to decide fast.
Yeah, I'm surely shipping expensive stuff with tracking number next time but I obviously can't do that now.
at this point, i would try to disconnect any of the bank accounts / credit cards that you have attached to paypal. Call your bank and have them block outgoing funds to paypal. I know it's too late now, but i refuse to send anything international ground, and rarely do i send anything without a tracking number. It isn't worth the trouble that paypal can cause. As for ebay, that's domestic only maybe canada and mexico if i'm feeling lucky. For sales on assembler, i feel a whole lot safer sending international.
Good luck. Went through something similar a while ago. Luckily for me it was a lot less expensive. In order to win with pay pal you need a tracking number otherwise you are going to lose. **QUOTE I want to bite him back in the butt by sending him an empty box with tracking number that I will submit to PP so that they get off my back with this damn false claim. Would this work? Remember tracking numbers relate to a paticular package and a weight on a package if the weight is less than what is expected that can come back to bite you.
Rocks aren't expensive... I tried removing my CC but I can't since my account has a negative balance (they remove it from the account while the claim is in process). I will call my bank though but it's not of much use since they could potentially charge it to my CC anyway... I'm still going to send an empty box if it's my only choice...sadly.
actually paypal doesn't care. I got ripped off on ebay from buying a console, and the guy sent me a media mail envelope with a pencil and a random cable from a tv or some shit. Neither the package or the weight matched what I won and paid for in shipping. Paypal accepted the code and closed the case, and I was left saying WTF... Paypal is seriously skewed towards the sellers so they'll accept any tracking number, and since they accept only one complaint per transaction, it'll be done with.
There you go, send him a small envelope with some crap in it and submit the tracking number to paypal. It sounds to me that one of three things are happening here: 1) The package hasn't shown up yet becasue it's in transit, the guy knows this and is complaining to get his money back, in which case he's trying to rip you off. 2) The package did show up and the guy is complaining to get his money back, trying to rip you off. 3) The package hasn't arrived yet and the guy is genuinely concerned, but is acting like an asshole and is trying to get his money back and rip you off. In either case, fuck him. The SOB probably does this crap all the time. Don't feel bad about it becasue if he was legit he'd cooperate with you.
This is what I think is the case. International ground delivery usually takes around 3-4 weeks to arrive and sometimes more. He filed the complaint 2 weeks after me sending the package in he mail. I said to him that it's supposed to take longer but he still wouldn't back down, even after I showed him a copy of the shipping receipt I got after mailing. I am a bit concerned since he said in his claim that he waited 4 weeks (should have said 2) and that he contacted me and I didn't reply (which I did through ebay messaging). If he didn't have me by the neck with this paypal claim, I would work with him to fix the problem (that I already offered to do) but not when he's being stubborn like this. So I shouldn't have any complications if I send an empty box? Paypal will take the tracking number without asking? This really proves how bad their protection system is...
here's the exact email they sent me after the guy did it to me, with the obvious personal info cut out. Basically they say that the seller sent it, so deal with the shit yourself. Kinda funny and sad at the same time...
Indeed it is. It's amazing how large businesses like paypal can get away with these kinds of things. Although I shouldn't be complaining too much since their incompetence will be saving my ass this time. I'm sure most of their "investigations" don't even come across human eyes.
Can anyone comment on risk and whatnot with a merchant license? If someone uses a stolen credit card, do you get fucked in the end?
Im dealing with not getting something I ordered on the 30th of December .Your telling me if I file with paypal to get my money back im trying to scam someone?
Honestly, from the perspective of someone who has been both buying and selling on eBay for 7 years now, this guy sounds like a complete eBay "noob". You really can't let yourself take shit from these people; if they don't recieve their package immediately, they start emailing you and bitching. Sometimes screwups occur at the post office, I sold off some textbooks to a guy in August and one of them somehow got rerouted to New Jersey and just kind of sat there for 3 months before it got sent to him in New York. Luckily he was experienced and understanding though, I did as much as I could on my part and he recognized that by that point, it was completely out of my control. You will run into these problems especially with international shipping, quite often from my experience, packages can take 4-6 weeks to reach some European countries. They get tied up in customs and inspections, which results in them just sitting there for awhile. Be sure to provide excellent communication with the seller, and do what you can to try and investigate this matter. I know that once it has left the country, it is pretty much out of your hands, but anything you can do, even calling the post office, will make your case seem much more credible. If you need more help in dealing with this, feel free to drop me a line and I'll be glad to help you out. I've dealt with this before, and lucklily I've had almost complete success by the end of everything. Good luck!
anyone wants stolen credit cards? all the little tickets at my job have their #/name/expiration date hehehehe.
You've got no chance of getting your money back mate. I got fucked over by some arsehole over at NTSC-UK.com Paypal have the cheek to say you can appeal against the accuser but what's the point? paypal just told me that if I can't prove that I sent the parcel then the buyer gets his payment back. But wait a minute, how the hell can that shit who put in the claim prove that he never received the parcel? He can't ! He could have it and still claim that he doesn't since it wasn't sent recorded. There are too many arse holes in this world ! Yakumo
No, just saying that this guy knows his item is still in transit (as in he knows it will still show up) and is trying to get his money back anyway. Sorry, didn't mean to imply anything.
