That's right. The PCE CD Dracula X is coming to t he Wii this month! I can't wait for this and best of all they won't be fucking around with it like the XBOX Live version (although some people say it's better). Yakumo
Xbox Live version of PCE Dracula X? Or do you mean SotN. I never heard anything about Dracula X PCE for Live. But if it's coming to Wii, that's great news for the Wii. And soon, you will have no memory space for any more VC games.
I wonder if they will release it in the US. I mean, they did translate it and put it on Dracula X chronicles, although I am curious if it was a ROM they put on there and did emulation, or built it from the ground up.
I didn't bother with the emulated original on the PSP, but I imagine they did translate what little text there was, and ofcourse they have their english dubs to use. So I imagine that is what regions outside Japan will get.
Hopefully, since I am very skeptical about Nintendo releasing games like that outside of Japan. NoA and NoE has treated the VC like shit the last few months
I'll buy it. If it ever comes out here. Part of me would really like to see Nexzr hit the VC as well, since it was my favorite game on the PC-Engine Duo. Yet then again, part of me wishes for it to remain a treasure only for PC-Engine Duo owners. Granted, its not like these VC games don't look like ass and have various weird problems most of the time.
Err, I have a Virtual Console game for every format including Master System and they all run and sound fine. Even Mega Drive has good sound emulation which is normally a problem on most emulators. There's now a few PC Engine CD titles for Virtual Console so I hope in the future we'll be getting some of the Mega CD gems as well such as Silpheed, Lunar, Snatcher!!!!, Final Fight, Sonic CD and more. Yakumo
It'll hit the U.S. VC any time between now and the end of the console's lifespan. Consider it confirmed, but when it's coming is completely up for grabs. It is a Castlevania, after all, and they have released PC Engine CD titles on VC in the U.S. before...
Yakumo, you still never answered what you were talking about Xbox Live for. Dracula X didn't come out for Xbox Live Arcade as far as I know. Castlevania SotN did. I'm still curious what you meant.
Eh, the Pc-Engine stuff looks really washed out to me. Also, Gate of Thunder has sound issues (sound effects are up way higher than the music, which is a shame).
I made a mistake there. For some reason I though that the PCE game had been released on the XBOX as well as the PSX/Saturn game. Sorry for the confusion. yakumo
I thought that the colours looked a bit poor as well but then I ran the Wii through the D-4 Terminal on my TV (same as component but up to 1080i) and everything looks great. Hmm, that sound issue is probably due to a crap CD Audio conversion. I have PC KID CD and Crest Of Wolves (or what ever it's called) on my Wii which were both PCE-CD games and they run fine. We don't have Gates of Thunder over here yet so I can't check. However I'd say it really is probably a poor conversion on the music levels that makes everything sound off. By the way, what format is the music on the Wii games? It's sure not CDDA that's for sure. ACC maybe? Yakumo
From what I know of the Wii, Nintendo really cocked up Virtual Console. Any type of component connection will force VC to display 480p. Composite, S-Video, or RGB (Euro version only -- can't even mod at this point) will give the games their original 240p, but with signal loss if you're not in Europe. Not sure what happens if you connect Component to a 15khz monitor. PROBABLY 15khz, but I'm not sure. *Evil Laugh* I just got an RGB Modded Duo-RX... for only a bit more than a regular Duo-RX would cost.
I don't know about that though. All stuff on my VC is at 525i or what ever 480 is in NTSC. Or at least that's what the TV says. What is odd though is that Neo Geo software will be forced in to 4.3 ratio while PC Engine or Mega Drive stuff stays at 16.9. I have my Wii set to Wide screen Progressive scan. maybe the settings on the Wii can effect the VC image? Yakumo PS: Nice score on the RGB moded Duo RX! Lucky bugger.
Well, your TV is likely not going to display 240p, since other than games, basically nothing would output that. It's a large HDTV, right? It likely upscans to 480p even if it gets 480i, so you're kind of SOL. That's weird that for some games it stretches...especially considering they're originally 4:3 games. Lazy programmers? I got a Duo-R just before that for a similar price. I need to do some testing. Both have slight issues as they're complete hacks. The RGB signal is strong, but there are some artifacts here and there. Very liveable though. I Basically need to play a game a few times on each of them to see. Something I don't have loads of time for at the moment.
Yeah, my TV is a big CRT HD 1080i set. YOu know what is really odd on it though. Even with all the fancy crap switched off, my Mega Drive looks a lot better through composite than s-video on it. Same here. Long gone are the days where I could just sit back and game for a half a day. Man, what will I do if Shenmue 3 ever comes out????? Yakumo
Well, I downloaded the game last night and what a classic it is! Bloody hard though. Managed to get to level 4 before going to bed. Yakumo
Dracula X? Just takes some getting used to. It's in my list of 1-credit clears. There's a few hidden extends which help, btw.
