All it takes is a simple hexedit to make TG16 ROM's work on my current NEO flash so it should not be hard as all it pertains to is a simple byte swap. I always hated having to go back and forth programing as you had to choose TG16 or PCE ROM's and couldn't mix or match till I found that is is just a simple swap using a hextool I made the entire Tg16 PCE style ROM's in a matter of a hour or so.
http://markup.io/v/edxc9088pj7q The switch I'm referring to. The white button, I'm assuming, next to the Micro SD slot, is the reset button, which I understand why it's there.
wow, I had no idea that you made it or that it will be integrated in the OS thanks for it though as it worked a treat for my tototek/pce combo!
Actually retrogate is not EU. Geographically in europe, but not in EU. Nobody of EU dealers is not ordered turbo-ed yet
Hi, all, First Post! I'm a moderator from the Arcade and Retro forum on Boards.ie and I have just ordered the Turbo Everdrive from Retrogate, it says Back-Order but we'll see how long it takes. Fingers crossed it'll be a swift trip from Russia to Ireland! But, just to say, thanks KRIKzz! There are quite a few of our members already own the Mega Everdrive, the announcement of this products arrival filled a number of us with anxious glee, as we patiently awaited the announcement, and now it's here. So, from all of us here in Ireland, thanks once again KRIKzz for your hard work and upon the delivery of another retrogaming essential, enjoy the well earned break!
Krikzz, how long will take preorder? Can I wait till the end of month ? I'm planning to get turbo ED straight form retrogate.
KRIKzz is the USB port needed for future firmware updates? But anyhow, I need to ask my wife first before i can order another one of your flashcards ;p
I'm glad it helped you. I created it after I tried UCON64 to do the same thing and while it did work, sort of, in Neutopia it caused several glitches included a bug that crashed the game. Because of this I wrote my own patcher. The UCON64 patch routine is/was awful. Great to know the Turbo ED has the region patching included. =)
To use a cart with USB port is not a good idea if you plan to use it in a SuperGrafx console, it will interfere with the lock of the power-switch. If you take a look at the image of the cart, there is a place for a JTAG pinheader next to the USB port, you should be able to upgrade the firmware with a cheap JTAG programmer.
USB ONLY for development purposes, not for firmware update. The same thing for whole everdrive range.
afaik all of KRIKzz's new carts can do firmware upgrade in parallel with OS upgrade straight from the SD card, you only need to use the pinheader on older carts which don't support the upgrade from sd
Do we need to put any special directory on the SD card for special files? Is there an OS page available?
Incorrect. The Turbo EverDrive does not upgrade firmware from SD card, it does it from JTAG. The only carts that KRIKzz developed that do this are the ED64v2 and Mega EverDrive. Also look at how much they cost. The TurboED would cost quite a bit more for that functionality. It has nothing to do with the carts being the latest development, its because they are more powerful carts that have both a Max II CLPD and a Cyclone II FPGA. The TurboED only has a Max II CLPD just like everything previous to the ED64.
I assume the TurboED works exactly like the EverDrive-MD, Super EverDrive and all other EverDrives previous to the ED64. There is menu option to flash OS on to cart. Doubt its loaded from SD card during start-up like ED64 and MegaED. I think there is a bit of confusion here. The TurboED is not powerful like the ED64 or MegaED. If it was it wouldn't be $80. It would probably be $100+. To keep costs down it works very similar to previous EverDrives.
Looks like my post ended in crowd... Krikzz, how long will take preorder? Can I wait till the end of month ? I'm planning to get turbo ED straight form retrogate.
I have no plans to close preorder. i will change state to "in stock" later, when first wave of demand will run out
