Anyone else liking it so far? Perfect Dark caused me to wear out an N64 stick because I played it so much, so i'm pleased it's on the 360 now. And at 800 points, that's damn good value.
It's awesome! If anyone wants to add me for some multiplayer my gamertag is below. I'd love to take a trip back in time 10 years. My fondest Perfect Dark memory: My brother's friend let us borrow the game. My and my bro were playing it in the living room. When my parents noticed that blood was spraying on to the walls behind the enemies, they took the game away from us.
Did Dave ever tell you your mom tried to take Gears of War from him a few years ago? LOL I remember being in shock, awe, and slightly disappointed they didn't card me at Target when I got it on my 12th birthday.
Not yet, my gold membership ran out the same day I bought a new big tv My wallet's full of cobwebs and dead moths just now, but I get paid at the weekend so i'll be on then.
Going to buy this tonight, I'm a massive Perfect Dark fan (original only so far), my N64 multiplayer ranking is still 8: Deadly, too bad the saves can't be brought across
I'm pretty sure it's NOT emulation, they have changed in-game models such as the spinning logos on the intro, and also the multi-player. It makes more sense that the code was just ported over to the 360, especially with the addition of the multi-player online mode.
Someone could always hack the download apart and try to find a N64 ROM or any N64 related data or references.
I'll be getting a new XBOX on April so I'll have to wait till then Anyway I've seen a couple of vids and it looks good so far, I'm a huge fan of Perfect Dark and looked forward to it's Live release since they announced it. Are there new maps in multiplayer or all the regular ones from the N64 version?
It's not emulated. There was an interview with some of the Rare team talking about it on Live, but I can't find it now. Some of the original team members who worked on the N64 version worked on the 360 version. The textures have been upgraded for HD, the multiplayer has been redone, etc. The level design, mission objectives, music & sound effects are the same as I remember them. There's a nice split-screen video of the N64/XBOX360 versions here: http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2010/03/17/perfect-dark-n64-vs-xbox-360-comparison-video.htm
I take it the performance and FPS have been improved? I tried to get into PD when I bought a 64 a few years back and the framerate was so awful I gave up.
yes, it's smooth as butter now. I find the difference in the left control stick unavoidable but I think this is less accurate. Can't seem to get my headshots right.
