Noticed that too, it gets a bit wobbly. I tried adjusting the sensitivitiy in the menu, but it doesn't seem to help.

I think that's just how Rare does FPS games now :\ Throw in PDZ and you'll see there's not a whole lot of magnetism and auto aim.

    Badum-tsh!

That gives me an idea - underclock a 360 and see if I can get it down to 10fps :p

so I got XBLA version yesterday.
    man is this remake awesome!
framerate is silky smooth(60 frames per second), dolby surround in 5.1, graphics in full 1080, looks and feels remarkably good.
I've played four missions on hardest difficulty(really you'll get most out of it on perfect agent because missions are much more complex and you won't breeze through it like you would on agent).
I got used to controls in a snap (aiming cursor is actually essential if you're going for headshots, etc...).
so what else there is to say, it's what I've expected and game delivered it in spades.
N64 weighed 32mb's, XBLA version is 240mb's, - that should give you good indication of how much love and work went into it.
I wish Nintendo treated their Virtual Console releases this way.
It's hard to believe that decade old title puts majority of currently released shooters to shame in terms of options, complexity for single player and multiplayer modes.
System seller for sure (just the way Banjo Kazooie and Tooie remakes were).
Trilogy is complete, now we need Conker(not live and reloaded), Killer Instincts, Jet Force Gemini, Battletoads, Blast Corps and we're set ^^

Downloaded it yesterday, man what an awesome port, and for $10 it is a steal. In fact this port is so well done I can't even go back to playing the 64 one! Sucks I don't have live atm, when things are more stable I can't wait to take this game online. Btw Yakumo you sure this is not out in japan? Cause on the leaderboards there are japanese players listed.

I know I should know how to do this but is it that big of a pain in the ass to get stuff off the US & UK stores? Never played perfect dark, but I'm hardly gay for any new stuff coming out.

Yeah, checked last night and it looks like we're shafted again. We can buy the themes, avatars and other crap but not the game  Same thing when I wanted to buy the remake of Turtles in Time (Which I play with the original SFC soundtrack). I had to get that from the UK Xbox Live market place. Looks like I may have to do the same for perfect dark. I'll give it another week or so first thought to see if anything changes.

no, not at all. Just make another user account for the US or UK and use that to download stuff. You don't need Gold accounts either. I've bought a few things from the UK store and use them with my normal Japanese login here in Japan. So far I've bought The Beatles Rockband tracks, Turtles in Time, Out Run 2 and Zune player but that won't bloody download the movies, only trailers. Stupid proxy! Japanese 360 marketplace really is wank compared to the west. We have nothing like Zune, or Sky TV in the UK.

If you do want to buy from another marketplace you will need Microsoft points for that region. I buy my UK points from an online store. Works out great too since the yen is much stronger than the pound. I'll forward you the URL if you want it.

Note that the Japanese version for the N64 came out on October 21, 2000, whilst EU was June 30, 2000 and USA was even earlier May 22, 2000. Although you'd think this is 10 years later, somewhere along the line these things would stop happening.

It is quite unbelievable, This game managed to remain my favorite FPS after a decade(and I played them all since early 90's). Single player story (on perfect agent difficulty with imaginative mission briefings, cool gadgets), countless multiplayer options, and the most impressive arsenal of weapons at your disposal. The best $10 you'll ever spend.

Thanks, Yakumo. I should probably check it out. It's easy to do on the PS3. Just change the system language. I assume I do something similar on the 360?

I have a few US-issued cards so I assume that part will be easy.

Not as easy as the PS3 but still simple. My 360 is set to English but as you know a few things are still in Japanese. Basically you make a whole new profile from scratch but set your region to wherever you want to buy stuff from. That way you can see exactly what people in that region can see. That's how I know the JPN 360 features are poor compared to the likes of the UK. It is a bit of a pain in the arse having to set up a whole new account from scratch but at least you only need to do it once and you get the standard free 1 month Gold sub with each new account. Best of all on the 360 it doesn't matter what account was used to purchase something. The bought item will work with any account on that 360. I have 1 UK account, 1 HK account just incase since I buy a few Asian 360 games for the English language such as fall out 3 and my JPN account which is what I use for playing.

Anyway, incase you have trouble using your US based cards (which you shouldn't) here's the URL to buy Euro points or US 360 points - https://www.gamepointsnow.com/ntsc-uk/

I'm pretty annoyed that they managed to fuckup the control options, really all the options are pretty light. But mainly no South-paw/left handed config for controls makes it very hard to play for me.

I'm sure if you just keep trying, you'll get used to it. My southpaw brother never changes his control set up except Halo 3 is set to bumper Jumper and he adjusts sensitivity. I've found that to be a good strategy, don't stray too far from default controls...they're default for a reason usually lol

there is no better arsenal of weapons in any fps, pd is still the king in this department.
over 40 weapons with secondary options.
laptop gun that transforms and doubles as a sentry device planted on a wall? awesome as it ever was.
single player, multiplayer, challenges, they've even added additional tasks (previously unreleased) as well as bonuses (PD Theme, Gamer Pictures, Avatar items you unlock) -
there is simply no better shooter out there in terms of value proposition.
4J/Rare even said that if this release sells well, PD2 is inevitable [IMG]
