If it was a real prototype, it would be an eeprom under the sticker, no? simply feel the middle of the chip, if you can't feel a small circle in the middle, then it's probably fake. I doubt they would have paid for press a prototype to silicon.
I'm dubious... I actually own a real Pete Sampras J-Cart Prototype. (I actually had an email in the past from a Codemasters employee asking me where I got these!) Bad pics here! http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~pinwhiz/sega.htm Some notes on my proto: - From memory my board is actually etched "j-cart prototype" (yes my pics suck and I'll do some better ones of both sides in the next day or so, to clearly show the markings.) - This board was used to prototype the actual J-Cart hardware and concept - This board is much taller than the production board. (in a normal CodeMasters hacksawed cases) - Theres lots of hand soldering on the reverse (in particular the joystick plugs) The one in this thread is dated 92, mine is 94 (the year the game was actually released)
That's right. Nothing to see if you had two carts or not. By the way, is there any chance of seeing the two different chips? In Japan we never got J-carts so I can't check myself against your picture. Ask your friend to let you take a shot of his cart since it's already open. Yakumo
Here's a couple of pictures of my Kid Clown proto for the Super Famicom. This is a strange one since it has 2 eproms and a load of other chips that ther final game doesn't have and a battery as well ! By the way, I'm selling this is anyone is interested in it. Yakumo
