So I took these in a thrift store. Hope we can all laugh: Xbox rockband drums: These are pretty common. They will sell here for about $15-$30 Xbox original console: This one here sells for a whopping $79.99! I guess that is because it actually has the two controllers, but still demonstrates how these people who price these things have NO clue what they are worth. Xbox original console: This one was "only" $59.99. no controllers I suppose. However what would stop a person from slapping two controllers on top of it and getting the whole thing for $60 i have no idea. A beaten up n64: no anything, just the console. Sells for $14.99 PS1 Console: Has a controller, absolutely no power or AV cables but you can always find the power cords, no big deal. $29.99 I am pretty sure this here is from that steel batallion game, but not sure. There is an IDE cable on the side of it which is strange if you ask me. I guess it connects to the other side of the controller? Very elaborate. An old nascar steering wheel from the PC days: No idea other than the fact that it has serial ports on the bottom. Some strange looking interface, definitely not for a console. I will post more as I go through more stores over time. Anything i should get to resell? I do NOT collect but do resell stuff... but dont know much about the obscure.
Thrift stores asre usually run by volunteers for a charity of some kind? Be part of the solution and not the problem, join up and offer to do realistic pricing of the video game stuff and maybe you can also get first dibs on anything decent that comes through
The problem with thrift stores is its either run by people who don't have a clue and value everything below its price and are ultimately scamming themselves. Or people who don't have a clue and think anything old is worth a tonne.
tried that. I am a nice guy after all. But when I point something out, the manager of these places tell me that the items are priced off site, and changing them would get them in hot water. I even went as far as to call goodwill (a large charity) and they gave me the run around. So I wouldnt say I am a part of a problem at all lol
lol´d @ the prices BTW the steel Battalion Controller is fine (the IDE cable is there to connect with the main block)...just missing the right part, the pedals, the 2 Games (2nd edition w/ blue buttons came with SB and SB LOC) and the Instruction manual EDIT: lol´d as I saw this: exactly the same but with green buttons (left block is missing, too) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/XBOX-STEEL-BA...0431114577?pt=Video_Games&hash=item5197527551
Doesnt necessarily come with two games. Mine only had one, and it was brand new, blue buttons and all.
If the Xbox 1 is fully reliable and working, then 59.99 is fine. You save yourself from having to buy it off ebay and waiting for shipping, you just pick it up right there. Also the store has to make some kind of profit so that price is helping the store out also.
ive never seen them priced this retarded in my area...games sometimes though but usually consoles are dirt cheap
Way, WAAAAY worse down here in Mexico. And now that retro stuff is "chic" everyone overcharges for everything, even more than before. The going price for an Xbox is about 100, 120 dollars, with one controller. Hell, 150 is common.
The Steel Battalion thing's actually a pretty good find for a thrift store, I bet several people would want it for spare parts.
