I had a 1081 monitor and a USA N64. It didn't show in colour through the scart. I had a friend mod the Amiga cable and N64 Scart lead. It's long gone now, so I don't remember how he did it.
Hm, we shall see. As I say, if it doesn't work then I'll just use the other RGB port. Stripping the sync. http://mmmonkey.co.uk/console/other/sync.htm http://www.amiga-hardware.com/download_photos/1081_2_big.jpg
It did work after the mod, it's just I wasn't skilled enough to attempt it. We're going back to when the N64 was first available on import to the UK, so my memory is sketchy as to how he did it. I don't know if he opened the monitor or not, but I think he made some sort of modded cable from both the N64 and Amiga cable. I think they were both connected at the same time, but I honestly couldn't say for certain.
These are such beautiful CRT monitors! I've been wanting one since a couple of years ago, but as sayin999 said, shipping is a killer, I can't get to ship one of those beasts overseas and expect it to be cheap and to arrive in one piece.
Years ago there was a CRT with these hinged doors that were huge ass speakers and it was marketed as a gaming TV but the screen it self was only 13' forget it's name
Yeah I know the one you are talking about, can't remember the name either, but the TV itself and the speakers were pure crap iirc.
What's the new type of LCD tech that combines the LCD with CRT type displays I can't for the life of me remember the name of it
Yeah, that was the G-TV. I had one of those. The speaker were not bad, really. Better than the standard crap speakers they put in TVs at the time. Better than most today, actually.
GXTV by samsung, I had one and it was crap. It also has a fatal flaw and they all become irrepairable. Thrown out. The worst low resolution piece of shit ever.
Exactly that's the one, I've read nothing but terrible reviews about it, and remember you ranting about it not so long ago.
I always wondered why there was only a short time span that the gaming mags advertised it. Now I know why. The screen being so small is what kept me from wanting to get one.
Theres a Tv recycling place not far from me. Seems most round here get cut up and stripped rather then just dumped. The main bits being the copper and the lead in the screen its self.
You said it, it's no Tokyo! How big is your place? I've got a decent sized place but it's the city so it's only so big.
Amen. Does the first one support 240p? I see analogue inputs there, but you only listed as low as 480i. I would assume so since generally as far as the tube is concerned a 15khz signal is a 15khz signal (unless I'm missing something). Most of you guys with "HDTV Tubes" still can't support 15khz w/o them being upscaled. So, sorry -- those TVs suck for retro games.
Just get one of Sony's PVM series, or a Barco SCM, or a Hantarex - anything from NEC is also fine. 16:9 isn't the best choice for retro gaming, and if only it is because it feels wrong (I wouldn't want to play old games with huge black bars on each side).
My experience here in Australia has been Sony PVM - Available if you are willing to look. Sony BVM - Near unatainable. Found one and the guy still wanted $999 for it. Anyway I settled for PVM and will probably hook it up tomorrow.
