Play ps2 boots on an unmodded ps2 ! No more mod chips needed

  1. Well you can actually do it on an unmodded machine, sorta.
Using the same method detailed in the link, you can install a little CD loader (such as CogSwapLoader) onto your memory card (as opposed to installing the HDLoader).
Once you have booted up the CD Loader using the exploit, you now have to somehow insert in your backup/import disc without actually pressing the Eject button (as that would just trigger the protection mechanism again). To do this, you can use the PS2 Knife Trick detailed here http://ps2emu.dcemu.co.uk/knife.shtml to swap your disc for your import/backup by basically manually pulling out the drive and changing the discs. I don't need to explain why that is a bad idea... but it does let you boot them on a totally unmodded machine.
Some people use a more elegant solution, such as a flip top case, to swap in the disc.

This whole process is still a real pain in the ass compared to just installing a modchip though.

I think you can have more if you take a regular 80wire IDE cable and hook it up properly to the network adaptor and you have yourself two HDDs!! Or buy a 400gig hdd.

meh my post yesterday never "took"

Umm, you can do the exploit w/o loading HDD apps, use cogswap loader instead!

The ps2 fliptop = also a good way to go, theres info out there that they kill ps2's etc...its all BS spread by our enemies :)

Anyone tested this, does it work, and is it easy to do/does it have any consequences?

  5. Works fine... as I said, I've been doing this myself for a long time.

I actually prefer to load the games from my hard drive... then I can keep my games in mint condition.

I'm with you on that, I played GTA SA of the HD and then off the disc and I was completely shocked at how much difference in time there is.

with the loader software compatibilty is an issue not all the games work.

it is pretty easy but you need a way to copy the files to memory card that's the trickiest part, some people use swap magic, I use a modded ps2.
