What does all this entail other than a Network adaptor? I'm assuming I'll pick up Phantasy Star Universe and get completely sucked in when it comes out. I would like to try it to it's full extent. Anyone play Japanese software from outside of Japan? I'm hoping they don't check IPs or anything.

Also can someone confirm/deny that PS2Test can use Network Adaptor?
I've been thinking of online as well - Gundam Vs Z Gudam but on Korean server...

Tests wont work, the Utility Disks wont work i dont think :p

Ive played FFXI Japanese online well before it came out here, on PC but its the same deal, no problem really. That and a few other Japanese games online

And isnt PSU coming out in the US? If so, you could wait and order that instead.

I dont think that PSU should use the HDD, so you should be safe to pop the game in with a NA, or a Slim PS2, and, assuming you have the driver crap installed that comes with the NA, and a memory card, it should be relatively simple.

    Yeah, but:
    1) It'll come out later
    2) I can't play US PS2 games
    3) Americans online are complete tool bags and really know how to fuck up a good game (After hours of PSO, I stand by this comment).

According to Yuji Naka, it won't support the HDD. Sony gave them a big no when they asked.

Good, then it will be easy to play. Memory card+system with NA, and you should be fine.

My TEST PS2 goes online and uses the HDD. It boots utility discs fine on my DTL-H30101 and DTL-H50001.

The DTL-H30000/300001/30002 don't boot utility discs, only the later model numbers do. DTL-H3010x and DTL-H5000x.

I'm in the UK and play the US FFXI on the PS2. I have also played the US version of Resident Evil Outbreak. The TEST PS2 passes all the DNAS checks.

Rumors have it that PSU will make it to a next generation console. PS3 I assume.

    Despite the fact that :
    1) The webpage says it's coming out on PS2
    2) Yuji Naka said it was coming out on the PS2 (and PC)
    3) Yujii Naka said if would be pointless to make it for next gen since the user base will be too small for the first several months/year/whatever?

I would expect to see some type of v2 upgrade next gen... no doubt. We only got 5 ports of PSO.

Yes, I know that information. It's just a "rumor" I have read in a few of my magazines.
