PlayStation 2 FMCB Without SwapMagic?

Which sounds far more reasonable to me - Softmod is modifying how the console runs via software (not hardware). Not that it has to modify the software.

 

But, it has not worked around any restriction imposed by the firmware. And neither has it installed a CFW or modified any bit of software. Not even in RAM.

Neither has the behaviour of the hardware changed. FMCB does not allow the user to do more than what the console could always do. Even the loading of unsigned code could always be done with the basic boot ROM modules.

I'm quite sure that the definition that you quoted from Wikipedia still meant that a modification of something still has to be done, for a software mod to be considered a softmod.

Does "softmod" also refer to retail games? After all, the user has changed the behaviour of the console by starting a game...

See this is why I tend to stay away from the modding scene, EVERYONE thinks their way is the only way. :/ Whatever happened to people working together!?

Installing an exploit IS NOT HACKING, ffs how does following someone else's tutorial make you a hacker!? Unless you are the one who worked on creating said exploit. (You is used as a general sense)

Another thing is the stupid names people give error codes, like herpderp "Yellow light of death" "red ring OF DEATH"! I just think it's childish. This isn't call of doody guys.....

everyone should just pull their heads out and see that someone else can be right, no wonder the scene is dying.
