Playstation 3 freezes in XMB, no picture when rebooted. Help? I got my PS3 today, 40GB model. How ever, it won't boot up to the XMB and just sits at a blank screen. My TV flickers saying there is signal but nothing after that. When the XMB freezes the screen goes all corrupted and sound still plays for extra 5s then stops completely. I got this off eBay, seller replies saying it worked when he sent it. I believe he's bullshitting. So should I send a paypal dispute? Doesn't look like he's going to come to a solution. Seeing that the description was false, I should still be able to get my money back.. hopefully. :banghead: http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hpho...134271506_1043773906_32671805_229853219_n.jpg http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hpho...34471511_1043773906_32671806_1187562165_n.jpg
Paypal will give you the money back. "no refunds" means jack shit. Sold as working but arriving faulty = not as described.
Sorry to sound stupid but how would that process work? I haven't been through this before. This dickhead keeps responding to me, that it was working before he sent it. BULLSHIT it was. Edit: Great, he refused the request. Horrible eBayer. Edit 2: I've now opened a claim with Paypal. Hope I'm doing this right.
You cant refuse disputes? You need to initiate the dispute process and select "SNAD" Which is "significantly not as described". Fill with the details that it was listed as working and doesnt. He will likely just keep saying "sold as no refunds, working when I sent it, etc" this is fine, if he continues that, escalate to paypal. They should side with you, but will likely tell you to send the item back. make sure you send it back with proof of delivery. Once received, you will get your refund.
Yes, I did it right, I escalated to Paypal. He said exactly what you said "sold as no refunds" Since the first dispute he refused my refund request. I'll be sending it by registered of course. Hopefully this works out, $260 is a lot of money to me Thanks for your help as well.
He is clearly just trying to rip people off and doesnt seem to understand how paypal and ebay work. You cant just sell faulty stuff and slap "working, but no refunds" in the auction. If its not as listed, his "no refunds" doesn't mean shit. Same with all these people that say "I accept no responsibility for items lost in the mail" No, its the sellers responsibility for the item until it arrives - simple as that. I have been through all this many many times - from both sides of the fence.
Some people are horrible. There are some stupid buyers as well, but I would never be dishonest to others. He said in one of the messages, others have tried to get refunds from his systems as well. Mainly because he doesn't know how to list! If only people would research BEFORE they list, uh well. Hopefully paypal side with me. Cause this seller is obviously trying to rip me off like you said.
Paypal will take a couple of days to "investigate" Do not send anything back until they instruct you to.
Good, just making sure This It's good to know ebay protect their buyers who have been wronged, shame they're not so good at protecting honest sellers from dishonest buyers.
I'll be waiting for their response sure. Just so worried about the outcome, it's straight out that he's trying to scam.
If it were up to me I'm not sure I'd make you send it back, all he's going to do is try to sell it again, they should let you keep it to make up for the inconvenience of being decieved. But then again, there'd be no way to distinguish between liars and people who are genuinely being ripped off, therefore making it even worse for sellers on the site. So who want's to bet that this will be Ebay's next new policy
I have video proof of the system not working. I even offered the seller if he'd like to see them. He completely ignored my offer. What would happen if I didn't get sided with? I just lose out on the whole thing?
Did you try resetting it? Maybe it is set to a different video format? Try holding down the power button until it beeps twice.
This.. It's obvious from the description that he used hdmi on it.. Are you hooking it up with regular PS3 cables afterwords? The system may have not have recognized a change, and is still trying to output the video to a different port. If it is messed up though, I hope you get your money back.
I've done that many times, I'm getting picture, and I can sometimes get a game to run for 10-12 minutes before it just freezes and greets me with green+blue. I called SONY support today, and the operator said that the GPU is gone and will need to sent in for repair which will cost $150.. Not worth it. I'm hoping to get the email back saying I got my refund and to send the system back to the asshole who sold it to me. It's really getting me on my toes. Here is what I mean, this is playstation I got. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtqtKT2k5Xw
Have you tested it on a HDMI tv? I had PS3 once that wouldnt work over AV/composite but worked on HDMI.
No, it shouldnt freeze. Its probably not your issue - but I suspect he probably tested it via hdmi and I had issues with AV too - therefore just worth a try.
