Here's a good one for you, in Fallout 4, the PS4 would filter out the music tracks for streaming. Does anyone know if the Xbox One does the same?
Lately, if you have a decent Windows 10 PC, you pretty much have an XBOX One. Sure, not every XB1 game is coming to PC, but it sure seems like it will be in the future. If you are into fighting games, then I would say wait for the PS4.5.
KI, Forza (there's been 3 Forza games on the XB1, and 0 GT games for the PS4), Gears of War Ultimate, the Halo games, I can't recommend Rare Replay enough (at $30 it's still the cheapest way to play Conker's Bad Fur Day). Plus there's backwards compatibility with a few hundred 360 games. Most of them are arcade games, but it still is an easy way to stream those games (apparently only on twitch).
Do you have a decent PC? If not, go with XBONE. If so, go with a PS4. Most of the XB exclusives have gone/will go to PC, while PS4 exclusives will stay on PS4. Let's add to the XB exclusive list: Quantum Break, Dark Dreams Don't Die and hopefully-soon-to-be-released Cuphead. PS4 has, uhm, well, Knack! Also, uhm, a remastered PS3 game! (The Last of Us: Remastered) Driveclub stunk, but Bloodbourne is said to be pretty solid. The Order: 1866 was a 6 hour, QTE-heavy game. It won't be until The Last Guardian, Uncharted 4, Final Fantasy VII: Remake and Shenmue III where the PS4 will be looking at its prime. I should have read more thoroughly. You already covered this.
Get both. PS4.5 is a Kotaku rumor so it probably won't happen. If you live in the US GameStop has a used all 3 now gen bundle for $800, far less than the beefy PC you'd need to run current games
Far less? You could spend around $500 for a PC that would give you similar performance to what you'd get out of current gen consoles. I own a PS4 and a gaming PC. While I don't regret purchasing my PS4, I really don't play it all that often. I played through FFVII recently but before that it would go months and months without use. The only reason I'm holding onto it is because exclusives should be on the way.
I don't understand the love for the XBONE controller. It is so much worse than the X360 controller (which is still the best one period) due to the sharper corners, flimsier feeling and some spacing issues.
So much information, looks like the PS4 is pulling ahead in the polls though... is basic multiplayer free on Xbox One?
I don't own either and haven't played them much, so maybe I'm not the best source of advice on this, but I have looked into it. Personally, I would get the PS4 because: 1. Supposedly it's slightly more powerful than the Xbox One (though the hardware is very similar) and 2. It has some cool exclusives coming out in the future like No Man's Sky and Shenmue III. Both of those games are also going to be released on PC, so it's not really a reason for me to get a PS4 - but if you're interested in those games, you might want to get the PS4. Last Guardian also looks pretty cool. I do think that if, like other people are saying, Sony is going to release an upgraded version of the PS4 (Sony hasn't officially confirmed this yet) then I would probably wait until that's released.
Multiplayer is not free on PS4 nor Xbox One. Shame it's not on the PS4, it was one of its selling point for the PS3. It is on the Wii U though! But that's not what this topic is about.
I've still got to play through the first two Shenmues Maybe it's not time to buy. I mean it would be nice... maybe I should build a PC... but then I'll have a Mac and a PC... Hackintosh... maybe... ughhh! Where did I read multiplayer was free on Xbox One... lies! Dammit internet!
Ah that must have been it, I bet they are all terrible too just to get a little bit of salt in that wound!
Between those two I suppose I would say the Xbox One due to it having better exclusives. I guess some questions to help make the decision would be: Do you prefer Killer Instinct or another Street Fighter? (Rephrased: Do you have a Saturn/Dreamcast and Street Fighter Alpha 3/Third Strike?) Do you really like inFamous or do you want to play Sunset Overdrive and eventually Crackdown 3? How much do you like Halo? How much do you like Gears of War? How much do you like Remedy (the game developer)? Are you rabid about Souls-style games to the point where you have to play all of them ever or will Dark Souls III suffice? Do you like abstract indie games? (PS4) Do you like indie games that look like '90s arcade games? (Xbox One) Who do you like more between Rare and Team ICO? If a new Battletoads game came out, would you care? How much do you want VR? In two years will you have a PC capable of playing No Man's Sky and/or Shenmue III? Has a better games library than the other two combined.
