While it is probably mostly just Sony Propaganda, this bit is very true, Sony desperately need a centralised service.

I'll believe it when I see it. Has Sony ever said one true thing about any of thier launches ever? I mean really?

    Agreed.

I'm still waiting for all the features they promised on the PS2 HDD. Even though the Japanese got the BB Navigator, we in the west got nothing. Thank god for homebrew appz.

My emotion engine needs a tune up...

I'm just curious when they're going to put a lockdown on the features for the PS3. Everything is so up in the air that its impossible for devs to plan for this new service. If you thought the 360 had a screwed up pre-launch dev cycle, you should see whats going on with the PS3...

hell, will the ps3 feature an harddrive disc? Will it still serve as a router, as said by sony some time ago? Will the online function be as developed as they say? will you still be able to play multiplayer with a ps3 and two screens? what will the final controller will look like? Will it have new features? Will it be fully retrocompatible with psone and ps2? What about ps2 online tittles? Will online cost something? How much will cost a blue ray disc? How much royality will sony take? how much will game costs? How will work the DRM? How will work the regions? Will the ps3 be region free as rumored?

And this is only the tip of the iceberg..

oh i wish that would happen...but it won't...ever

the playstation is cool, but sony has gone over the top a few times now

Then why not punish $ony's dishonesty by not purchasing the PS3 (or any other $ony branded products).

well even though the article didn't say shit about the service, this should be fun to see it come to fruition. I'd gladly swap the free ps2 online for dependable centralized servers and not having to deal with dipshits....even though they are on live as well.

As for wanting Sony to fail to punish them, their arrogance won't catch up to them. They haven't released shit about the ps3 at shows or any actual playable demos games and only talk about what they will do when they decide to unleash the awesomeness. But since the 360 blew its launch, Sony doesn't have to do much to attract gamers again. MS gave them the ball to drop. All Sony has to do is offer a bare package with gamertags, friend lists and offer it for free initially, they'll steal all of the 360's thunder.

Stuff like GTA and grand tourismo on a service like Live would fuck the 360 right in its ring of light. Kinda sad that Sony has it that easy....

That makes a lot of sense Johnny Vodka and I'm fairly sure I agree, Sony has every opportunity in the world to take a good chunk of the non-japanese market if they don't screw up (ie don't include) partial attempts at the features they've promised.

I'm also going to laugh quite a bit if Halo 3 is released to counter the PS3 launch and it backfires terribly.

Yep, honestly I thought that the Dreamcast would be for sony what the Genesis was for nintendo, but honestly not even Xbox was able to confirm this.

But there's always the possibility that sony fuck-ups seriously, so M$ may grab the market, and knowing M$ they wont let it go, EVER!

When you think about it, it sort of makes sense.

MS would of had a great deal of experience in creating, supporting and implementing the infrastructure that Xbox Live lives on. However they had hardly any console experience.

Then you have Sony, who have a great deal of console experience, thanks the PS1, but no idea on how to offer a platform for their online gaming.

I think you could compare Sony's online service to the Xbox console, and the Xbox to Sony's online service in a weird sort of way :p

Now they have experience in both these things, they can see what works and what doesn't. Sony will be able to create a model for their online system, while MS can try and create a more competitive console.

this pretty much resume my fears (or hopes, i dont even know now), sony never ceased their bullshit, and never will. I hate it how arogant they are, thinking the market is theirs and all, while they never really ever took a chance or anything, they always stoled others ideas, and added some hype to the mix. First with the Analogs and rumble, Now with that live thing. They dont deserve their places. but thats my opinion.
