Hey guys I have always seen two labels on each PlayStation i.e. made in japan and china. But I saw new one made in USA! I decided to share that with you. Those who care about Made in will find it interesting. It is ps1 console and of course I expect that we will never/rarely see apart from Made in China for newer generations of PS. I also saw ps1 of Mexican origin. You may have to zoom the first picture to see it clearly
Made In Mexico PS1s are very normal. I have seen them more often than Made in Japan for San Diego area. Made In USA PS1 are also normal, although not as popular as Mexico and Japan ones
OK, thank you for informing me about this. I had never seen any version of NTSC/PAL made in these countries.
you are very welcome. Yea, they are on the rare side compare to the Made in Japan and China ones. I bet it'd be very rare in Pakistan since I only saw Mexico and USA PS1 in Asia 1-2 times in the last 15 yrs or so
Are there any 100% "Made in USA" playstations, though? All the ones I've ever seen were "Made in USA with foreign components" like the one in that first photo.
I don't think there is a 100% "Made in USA" PS1 as I have never seen one. As for "Made in USA with foreign components", I was told that they were made in San Diego, California (where Sony used to have their VAIO production line) with some components from Mexico (it's right by the border).
Of course, not just rare but non-existent in Pakistan I didn't get my PlayStations from Pakistan but from UK. And by the posted pictures are not of my PlayStations. I was just exploring NTSC (US and Japanese) versions on ebay to find all the manufacturing companies because they contain that information. I have PAL versions of two PS1s which doesn't say anything other than Made in Japan. My next thread will contain that pictures I got.
Mr. TriMesh is right. There will no one PS1 with 100% even made in japan. May be made in japan ps1 contains more than 50% of components made in other countries. The reason due to which "Made in USA with foreign components" is mentioned because USA has different law concerning country of origin. That is you cannot write Made/Assembled in USA unless the final product contains the components manufactured within the same location. So they have explicitly mentioned "with foreign components."
