The option of having multiple IM ids going at the same time in MSN. Is called Polyphany or something in that direction.

 

It's called Polygamy, we have it at work.
BTW, I created a new partition with Linux on it (Debian), anyone knows a good IM program? I can use the ones I have in Windows but restarting my computer all the time is annoying...

 

Pidgin!

 

Pidgin is multi-platform (Windows, Linux, MacOS, etc.) - it was formally called Gaim.

Use your favourite download tool to get, or go to: http://www.pidgin.im/

 

Debian! Good choice. If you're on Etch and you don't want to do any work, do apt-get install gaim....though it should have been installed when you installed debian.

Anything Newer (Lenny, I think is the upcoming release or Sid), I'd guess Pidgin is the way to go.

Pidgin would work fine on etch...but since theres already a nice Gaim package, I don't bother....supports multiple protocols if I recall.

 

In fact it's based in Debian, it's Linux Mint. It's a great choice for starters like me and you have all debian capabilities, so I will keep it ^_^

 

I use MSN on Windows and Pidgin or GAIM on Linux.

Haven't been online for a while, though. Masters thesis, etc.

 

My MSN is still there from whenever I added it. Down here in Australia I don't even know people who exclusively use IM or Yahoo..it's all MSN.

 

Pidgin *IS* Gaim - they renamed it 6 months ago after AOL put the pressure on them to change the name. If you see a gaim package, it's out of date.

On a side note, I've only just spotted that I've already added my IM and I didn't even realise it - ghosts?
