http://www.vidgame.net/NINTENDO/N64.html at the end of the text (not of the page ) he mention some games that were made for the 64 dd (he mention 3 games ) doshin the giant ......ok.... dragon warior .....wait?! zelda.....................WHAT??!! i dont think he talk about ocarina of time or majora's mask and...for what i know , no dragon warrior game were made for the nintendo 64..... and \ or 64 dd and he mention it later , on an other page : http://www.vidgame.net/NINTENDO/dddrive.htm what's true? , what'S false ? :smt017 im pretty sure that everything is wrong but i dont really know the story of the 64 dd.... btw : really great site ...you must had it to your bookmarks ! (if you haven'T bookmarked it yet.)
Im pretty sure those are predictions rather than titles that were actually worked on. Remember that Enix literally shut down all N64 development after mischief makers.
Ocarina of Time Master Quest was originally made for the disk drive, but was never released. There's lots of rubbish websites that seem to write articles purely from PR material and pre-release lists, seems you just fond another one.
Japanese Gaming's unreleased list states quite a few DD games. I do not see Dragonwarrior on my list, but Mario, and Zelda are both on there. Doesn't mean that any work was done on them... just means they were at least announced at some point.
Wasn't Ura Zelda completed for the most part but just never released for the 64DD, but as the preorder bonus for Wind Wanker on the Gamecube instead? I also thought I heard about somebody ripping the game (as it was basically an emulated rom) and patching it to work for normal N64 emulators, is there any truth to this?
the answer is All I can say is..............................yes it has been done. I had the preorder disk and it was pretty good, yet harder.
Yeah, there is a ROM that will work on an N64 emulator. I doubt the version that eventually came out was DD though, as it essentially looks the same.
Well as far as I know, I thought the DD one was just an updated version of Oot with better textures, harder difficulty, and some of the dungeon stuff moved around, or maybe I'm just really confused...
I heard the same as you GSL Only addition is that I read it would have an extra dungeon (like Zelda DX had an extra dungeon if played on a GB Colour ). I used to have some screenshots of it in an Old Nintendo Magazine...don't know if I would be able to find it though.
yeah , i have master quest (well 2 master quest....one unopened (for collection and one opened) i don't hown a game cube wet . but i've played it at my friend's house. its pretty hard . but no one know if a prototype of zelda mq was found ? if it does , i'm sure its the expensivest proto ever found! (because its a zelda game... an expension to ocarina of time and a dd proto! ) any dd prototype found ?
From what i read in an interview, they had to cut certain dd version features out when they converted it to a 64 rom. I think the interview about this is at gamespot's website.
damn .... thats cheap! its why we have to get our hands on a zelda dd proto! :smt033 do you know what function where cuted ?
Not sure exactly, but miyamoto said it was nothing drastic that ruined the experiance of the game. The only reason he said it got released on special disk was that they had it finished for awhile (he even anounced this when 64dd came out) and that him and his team wanted it to be released some how sine they had worked on it and finished feeling it would have been a waste if not released some how.
The F-Zero X expansion that SuperGrafx refers to WAS in fact released. It works with the Japanese version of F-Zero X, and includes a bunch of new tracks, a mode to create and edit a car, but best of all, a track editor where you can save your finished tracks to either the disk or the controller pak for use later. It pops up every now and then on eBay, and I've been meaning to snag a copy to compliment my NTSC/J F-Zero X. Now to only find a 64DD unit...
theres one on e-bay right now http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8114804743&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW going for about $600 currently, comes with 2 of the art serise, doshin, sim city 64, and the f-zero expansion kit. For some odd reason european import shops were selling them when it came out, yet none were here. But Greatsaintlouis I warn you they are f'n expensive due to their small number produced, so i would say this is cheap for what you get looking at average what the go for. Also checked on yahoo's japanese auction site and they got one with four games going for about 10,000 yen which would be close to a $100 U.S. Too bad they don't like dealing outside of japan.
Yeah, I've seen the store items on eBay, and those people are fucking nuts if they think that setup is worth $600. I'd say $400 tops. It's true that while they weren't made in huge quantities, they weren't a super-small run either - I heard something like 10,000. I'm not too concerned with getting a Randnet setup, which is probably one of the more expensive 64DD items (although I wouldn't say no to a modem cart or keyboard), but the big ones I'm after are the Mario Artist set and the F-Zero X expansion. I've already got Doushin The Giant, and I've heard that Simcity and the golf game (can't remember the name) are really sucky. And I'm not too interested in Doushin 2, as it seemed to be an addon of Doushin 1 that required a lot of pants-wetting or something (I'm not kidding, I'll find a review on it if anyone cares.) But yeah, the systems seem to go regularly on YJ for about 10000 yen, and there was a 64DD unit on eBay a while back that ended at only $90-something, so they aren't as super expensive as some of those eBay stores lead you to believe. That's been there for over a month now, I believe... That should tell you something. :smt043 EDIT: That'll teach me to spout off before looking at an auction - I assumed you were talking about this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8104214217&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V That's what I was going off about. Anyways, I feel sorry for the poor guy who bid on that other auction...
Try contacting the guy from www.egameaddiction.com He had a bunch of 64DD units (and games) about a year ago and he may still have or be able to get you one.
Greatsaintlouis: if you think $400 is a lot, try asking Nintendomad what he paid for his :axe: By the way, I recall Yakumo had a 64DD modem cart, and at one point I was going to buy it from him. The thing fell through and a few months later he still had it, as it can be seen in his "day in the life of a gamer in japan" video. Perhaps he still has it for sale?
