You obtain Mew in the Japanese Red, Green, Blue and Yellow versions after obtaining 150 Pokedex entires. You talk to the GameFreak staff in Celadon mansion. And no, the truck can't be moved in any game, but it does exist if you trade over a Pokemon with the Cut HM so you don't have to access the SS Anne, then you return with surf.

Please don't use the word "Pokemons" because it doesn't make sense.

And yes, for english versions they held events where Mew was downloadable. They still do these now worldwide. Oh, but Mew is obtainable via a glitch in english versions that was discovered...2 years ago? I think. It's here.

While I'm here, I've got to say that the upcoming Pearl version looks great.

Not true. The Japanese version rumor about mew being recieved by getting all 150 Pokemon was false as well.

Glitch City is a glitch that scrambles up the locations in Red and Blue. You have to do this:

Go to the Safari Zone, walk around a bit then leave. When you are asked "Leaving Early?", say no and go back inside. Save the game and turn off straight away. Turn on again and leave the Safari Zone. This is where the glitch starts, instead of asking "Leaving early?" as usual, the guy will say "Welcome to the Safari Zone" as if you had just entered. When he asks you to join the hunt, say no, then fly to Cinnibar Island. Go to the coast on the right hand side of the Island and surf up and down (where you find Missingo.) Safar zone Pokemon will appear as you surf, ignore them and carry on surfing. Eventually, the Safari Zone PA will ring telling you the Safari Zone game has ended. You will be transported back to the Safari Zone. Leave the Safari Zone and behold, Glitch City.
You can also fly to different places instead of Cinnibar. Most of them don't do anything or crash the game, but Route 6 is a good one to try.

The Gold and Silver Safari Zone is a hidden area you need a cheat cartridge to find. It appears to be an unfinished map of the Safari Zone. You can't do much there, but it's interesting to see.

I captured the Missingno and it would randomly change types, levels, avatar etc etc. It also corrupted the graphics in my hall of fame, it was well dodgy.

Some words are used in the same form - "caribou", for instance.

Hilariously enough, there are a few websites dedicated to glitching pokeman games. http://www.trsrockin.com is probably the best, but http://www.cosbypokemon.com is freakin' hilarious. And I'm the co-admin. >.> And the site was a complete waste of the 50$/year, but I'll rant about that somewhere else and end my shameless plug here.

  15. Use the Mew glitch to get him in Red/Blue/Yellow.

Would you concider it a legitamite way to get him? You're not exactly cheating... Just, exposing their own programming. I find it facinating how it works, especially since Mew appears.

  17. ^Cool lol. That seems familiar, did they air that on TV? I swear I remember it.

I've heard stories that MissingNo was origionally designed as a test Pokemon to examine the workings of the game. Although I'm uncertain that this is true.

One thing I do know though is why he's called what he is. MissingNo stands for missing number, an atribute Nintendo gave to some of the empty slots that aren't used by the workings of the game (151 Pokemon, 36 trainers? The rest random gltichy mess). This is reffering to a missing number in the PokeDex/Hall of Fame, I.e one outside of the 151 Pokemon.

This is hard to explain, but I'll give it my best shot.....

You, Ash, the character, have your own trainer ID, that when you enter an area with wild Pokemon, get's updated with the Pokemon in that area. As long as you keep this ID in the crucial parts of the game, it will perform correctly. However, when you're in a city (exception Cerulian City... I will explain) where wild Pokemon don't exist, the only slots you're connected to are the trainers in that area.

When you enter a battle with one of the city trainers, your trainer ID gets temporaraly over written with their's. Since wild Pokemon don't exist in cities (exception Cerulian City... I will explain) it doesn't matter which of (however many there is) the "Pokemon" slots you're connected to because you wont encounter wild Pokemon.

When you enter an area with Wild Pokemon, it once again gets overwritten and updated with the Pokemon in that area. If you fly to a city where there are no wild Pokemon though, it keeps the trainer data since according to the game there are no wild Pokemon to encounter.

However, Cerulian City (remember a city) is different. Once you learn the technique surf, you can surf up and down the coast and encounter wild Pokemon. Since Cerulian City is a city, your trainer ID doesn't get updated with wild Pokemon... It instead keeps the trainer ID thinking it's safe because there's no wild Pokemon..... Wrong!

This is why the glitch works. When your trainer ID gets temporaraly overwritten by another city trainer, the Pokemon slots you're connected to might not neccicerally be those of the standard 151 Pokemon. Flying to Cerulian City causes this trainer ID to stay the same, and when you surf the coast, you encounter glitch Pokemon, or MissingNo's.

This is the principle for most of the glitches in the game (besides glitch city I think). The Safari glitch where you encounter Safari Pokemon in Cerulian City... Even the Mew glitch. By manipulating this principle, it's possible to connect to and enter battles with any Pokemon you wish, including glitch Pokemon.

Phhew, damn that was a struggle...

Lol, of course! It was at the end of every old series Pokémon episode in the US silly! :110: (I stopped liking it after the 151st Pokémon... too damn many after that...)

Here, I made this map of Glitch City a while ago. The red area is safe to walk around in without the game crashing, and the blue character is where you appear when you enter:

Thought I'd post it as I'm having PC problems and I might not get another chance for a while.
