Personally I wouldn't choose Ableton for recording, but I appreciate that's probably just down to preference (it's kind of a convoluted process from what I remember). I haven't used Cake Sonar for years, so I couldn't say anything substantial about that. Without VSTs, Reason feels limited - it does what it needs to, but without true flexibility it's not something I'd spend much time with. I stick with protools/cubase/"audition" (it's still CoolEdit to me), and if I needed more control I'd go down the Reaktor/MaxMSP route. To be fair it's been a while since I've had to fuck around at that level.

If you want NES sounds (should that be 2A03?), I think YMCK have a VSt publicly available. I don't know if there's a GB-ish VST patch, if there is I'd like to have a play.

Yeah, we're way off topic here.

Yeah we are, lol. i was also talking more about music in general, i was completely forgetting that he was trying to make 8-bit music, lol. It really is personal preference, i can definately agree with you on that. I had the opposite feelings though, cubase and audition/cooledit just didnt do it for me. Oh well, different strokes for different folks i guess:icon_bigg

EDIT: I also wanted to apologize to Treamcaster for kinda hijacking this thread. Im done, you can have it back:lol: Sorry again bro.

Has anyone ever tried beating Red/Blue using only 1* pokemon?

I say 1* because you need more than one to learn moves like cut and surf. Once you reach cinnibar, you can missingno glitch a pokemon who knows all the HMs.

I've beaten the game using only a bulbasaur (did not evolve him), and with only a charizard on a different run.

    my bulbasaur knew:

    Leech seed
    Razor Leaf
    Toxic
    *skill i cant remeber*

    Charizard knew:

    Fire spin
    Toxic
    Fly
    Swift

The game dynamic changes because not only do you not have the option to swap pokemon to avoid dying (since your "bitch" pokemon is most likely a very low level), but you also have to worry about efficiently using your attacks because your PP is limited.

Needless to say, the elite 4 are quite challenging to beat, considering some will always be strong against your attacks
