parents have a WEGA with component inputs. No HDMI, and they probably won't need one till the TV needs replacing.
No and won`t for a while Only bought a 36in wide screen 100hz pixel plus Philips tv about 18-24 months ago for about £1200, which was quite cheap at the time. Plasmas were mostly poor quality 640x480 or similiar, only small screen LCD`s were available Apart from 360 and the World Cup this year HDTV is still going to be years away from the norm so I`m not panicking to much.
I'm starting to think the same thing. Plasma and LCD TVs are becoming less expensive. Most of those are HDTV-Ready , which means they actuallty EDTV (480p if i'm not mistaken), but the prices are now half what they were 7 months ago. It' tempting since every damn store are promoting them. But yes, i'll wait till the end of the year. When i decide to spend that ammount of money i want something with at least 720p support. Plus there's the problem of normal air channels in Brazil. Low quality signal, 4:3 picture... To use a high-end tv like that you must have at least cable/sattelite TV. Or use only for DVDs and games.
No, and I'm gonna wait till HDTVs with HDMI 1.3 are a bit mature (so that any issues can be worked out)...supposedly the PS3 will require HDMI 1.3 (something about noise over the signal using the current version/revision of HDMI).
My Toshiba 46" DLP HDTV has 1 HDMI port. I paid 1999.99 for it at the Best Buy in Huntsville, AL , but saw that it is 1599.99 in the Atlanta area Best Buy... I think it's messed up they can charge different prices at different locations for the same store but an employee said they get to charge less in that area. Another example: I was in Circuit City the other day in Atlanta and looked at the 60" Sony HDTV my dad got and it was 1000 less than it was in Dothan Alabama. I asked the guy there why that was and he said for some reason that Circuit City gets to charge less than any other location in the country. He said you can buy the tv there and pick it up at your location. If that's true, maybe you should see about snagging your HDTV from an Atlanta location but picking it up closer to you. Or if your location does price matching, maybe you should have them contact the Atlanta area stores. Just trying to save someone some money.
