Okay, so I know that people have mixed feelings about ports because some developers have shown an increasing reliance on them for fast money without actually being original. Sometimes, the ports are inferior and that detracts from the game experience. BUT let's put that aside for a moment. How about games you want to see ported? Describe any changes or optimizations you'd like to see as well. Particular platform/consle? You're welcome to bring up technical limitations or considerations. ***************** ********* **** * First off: Resident Evil 4 PSP Many people bought RE4 on GCN, PS2, PC, and Wii. I'm sure the market could bear a fourth platform. First off, this is a single-player game, so it can run at the full 333MHz CPU speed without limitations. If ported well, it will look amazing for a PSP game. The PS2 port had some great extras, although it took a hit in the graphical and audio fidelity. The game on PSP will need to take some scaling back in those departments, but nothing from the main game should go. (It's not gonna be RE4 iPhone version redux.) It would no doubt have all the extras in the PS2/Wii versions.. but if space is an issue, they could be some kind of (free) DLC. Gamecube edition is just over 2GB in size total for both discs and that's with some asset redundancy, so smaller assets overall for PSP resolution and audio prowess could push everything smaller to fit on 1 UMD. Map can be assigned to the pause menu or select button. Camera can be assigned to either DPAD or analog stick. -------- Resident Evil Outbreak series PSP, also PS3 and 360 This game needed a proper online network. PS2 online was workable at best for this.. but lack of voice chat and the LOADING times bled a lot of the fun out for this game. 360/PS3 - Hard drive installation and caching was possible on the PS2, but most people didn't have the add-on. Since all PS3 owners and most 360 owners have a hard drive, there would hopefully be loading time overall. - More players due to larger online networks. - Better voice chat. (was the reliance on button commands a deliberate limitation in the original games in order to make the game seem more realistic?) PSP - HECK YES, RE:O on the go. - Possible install/caching option for UMD users. - Monster Hunter-style local play and also online play as well. - ...voice chat. ***** Hmm, I really like RE. Oh yeah, there's a new RE PSP game coming out this year. So, what do you wanna see ported?
Wario Land 2 on Genesis. If some pirates could just port that and do a good job, that'd just be cool. I love seeing ports on Genesis, part of why I love pirates so much. Just a shame that the are very few decent efforts, if any really. Squirrel King showed that they were competent enough to port NES graphics to 16 bit, so this would definitely be possible.
I'd very much appreciate it if Sega released Virtual ON: OT on PSN. It's out on XBLA, so I really don't see what the problem is with releasing a PlayStation version. It'd also be great if SNKP brought the MVS versions of Last Blade 1&2, MotW and the Slugs to PSN. All I ask is that they don't touch the games whatsoever, I just want 100% perfect emulation with maybe some optional graphical filters. Online would be cool, but that's probably asking too much of them. Capcom also need to show me some more PSN loving. Power Stone 1&2/Collection, with 4 player online and maybe even a new character or stage thrown in would surely be the best thing ever.
With the PSP being so multiplayer focused. I still can't undestand why RE:Outbreak hasn't been ported yet. Also i'm with assembler, Jet Set Radio in HD would be great. =) My own choices would be Yakuza 1/2 on PSP.
Yakuza 3 on 360, just so I don't have to buy a ps3 to play it. Also would love an xbla/psn port of radiant silvergun with all the cut scenes and voice acting the saturn version had. Policenauts and snatcher on wii would be perfect with the wii's pointer and all. The other for me would be all 3 tantei club games on ds, now that would be a great package there.
Considering there is already a PSP version, I'm sure Little Big Planet could easily be ported to the PS2... though it would probably end up losing a lot of its creation features unless the hard drive is supported to some extent. Also, technology has advanced to a point where pixel-perfect Model 3 conversions are more than possible on recent hardware now so how come we've still not yet got such treatments of Scud Race and Virtua Fighter 3?
Got to be Goldeneye 007 for me, upscaled and at a smooth fps. No other modifications necessary. Much like the cancelled XBLA port :-(. Similarly would like to see Perfect Dark ported...luckily only 3 days left to wait for it now ;-)!
i agree with "sayin999" as i'd love to see Yakuza 3 on the 360 mainly because i don't have a PS3 and might not get one anytime soon.
I've said it before, but I'd love to see a port of Scud Race/Super GT port for any system. It could easily be done on modern hardware. In fact, I'd love to see an accurate port of almost any Model 3 game. Virtua Fighter 3 is another one.
Sonic R, just with better graphics in HD and ported to PS3 or something. I always had so much fun playing Sonic R.
Guardian Heroes on XBLA and PSN with online co-op..make it happen! Or how about Saturn Bomberman? Four players at once in Bomberman Live? Pfftt, back then there was no HD and there was enough room for 10 players on screen!
I'd like to see a Sega Model 2 and Model 3 collection released featuring arcade perfect ports of such games as Daytona USA, Virtua Fighter 2, Top Skater, Gunship NY as well as others for the Model 2 disc and Virtua Fighter 3, Daytona 2, Virtual On 2, Scud Racer and so on for Model 3.
I have a similar old school idea though I think mine is more practical. I'd love to have seen the following games ported to Sega Saturn. Garou Mark of the Wolves King of Fighters 98',99',00' Metal Slug X & Metal Slug 3 Marvel Vs Capcom Final Fight Captain Commando 1944 Giga Wing Mars Matrix Mega Man Power Battle & Power Fighters Knights of the Round The Punisher Strider Mortal Kombat 1 (as it never got a decent console port) Castlevania SotN (but without the annoying slowdown would be nice!) I could probably think of a bunch more but that'll do I guess.
Sega wasted many opportunities to bring more of its pre-multiplatform era arcade hits to a console, so why couldn't it make amends by bringing some of these home now? SegaSonic The Hedgehog Dark Edge Virtua Striker Indy 500 Gunblade NY Motor Raid Top Skater Sega Ski Super G Wave Runner Scud Race Plus The Lost World Le Mans 24 Harley Davidson & L.A. Riders Dirt Devils Ocean Hunter Emergency Call Ambulance Brave Firefighters Air Trix Virtua NBA Planet Harriers Club Kart Whether it releases these in budget packs or as standalone downloads, I'm sure there's plenty of demand for at least a few of these! On the other hand, considering how long we've been made to wait for Afterburner Climax it's probably best nobody holds their breath...
